Obsessive

Hi there,

this is just by way of introduction. I was thrilled to find the site, and just had to join (forum only thus yet) I fear I'm becoming somewhat obsessed about G4 vehicles.

I completed national selections in Nov, made it to the last 24 but alas no further, then to be robbed of the thrill of watching the internationals and final competition by the cancellation. Ever since I eat and sleep Tangiers landies.

Looking through the site at the pics and your exploits is pretty inspiring, the only problem is I might just have to acquire one of my own to play with. Looking through the for sale section doesn't help.

The 09 G4 Discovery 3's drove fantastically and looked stunning, I love the Union flag decals on the rear wings. To own one would be fab but alas purse strings will prohibit that.

I'm not sure where Land Rover got the idea of Tangier orange vehicles, but having spent 5 years leading overland expeditions in Africa and Asia I have my ideas...  as well as ideas of the roots of my obsession!!

I'm looking forward to chatting to many of you on-line and fingers crossed when I track down one of my own see you at some events.

warm regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the forum :)

So... you've been 'tango'd' too... ha ha ha :P

Well done for making the selections in November, I agree it was such a shame the event was cancelled.

Maybe you can tell us about your experience of the selections and post some photos?

Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Kim

many thanks for your welcome, I'm looking forward to participating. I'm happy to post some stories from the selections, I don't doubt there are others here who took part then and in 03 & 06.

Out of interest, Mike Brewer, I think of Fifth Gear (once?) was in attendance with his camera crew and created three short videos, if the links have been posted earlier my apologies for the repitition, but otherwise they are great viewing. Day 1  http://www.videopress.co.uk/?goto=lrgdoco1 Day 2 http://www.videopress.co.uk/?goto=lrgdoco2 Day 3 (I even get interviewed ) http://www.videopress.co.uk/?goto=lrgdoco3

Many thanks to Mike for his what is now fruitless filming and editing to produce these, they are hugely motivational and inspiring.

regards

Rich

Hi Camel Landy,

What part did you play at the selections? Were you up for selection, or one of the event team? If you don't mind me asking and/or if its appropriate whats your name?

Cheers

Rich

Thanks Augusto,

how did you get on at selections? I don't remember seeing any pictures of the Brazilian selections on the G4 Challenge facebook site. How was it?

On that point I think its a real shame that the LRG4C facebook area was closed down, well the website too I suppose, there were loads of fab photos and vids. not to mention good contacts.

The guys I felt most sorry for were the Belgians and the other nationalities that selected early. Can you imagine, having been selected then carried on training hard for 6 months only to discover you wouldn't get the chance to freeze to death at Eastnor after all.

That is tough

I'd love to be at Gaydon, but might need to find some wheels first, turnng up in a Golf just won't feel the same!!!

Cheers

Rich,

Better to turn up in a golf than not at all :)
