Did LR made a trek orange version of a D2

not sure what stickers on this

decent price for a V8

is this the same rack used on G4 D2s??

What under body protection is fitted to D2s? winch carriers still available?

I guess with a few extras this would turn into a half decent replica

Hi Simon,

That's an odd one. There were Orange Trek D2's, have a look here, but I thought they were all US spec and therefore LHD.

The rack on that is the highline version of the SD rack used on the D2 G4's, it has enough clearance to allow the sunroofs to operate, you'll notice that one has the roof bars in place as well. These were the ones used on the Trek cars but were boarded over rather then meshed as that one is. The spots are the correct ones and the rear work light looks correct as well.

My first thought was it was an ex-event car, but on closer look it can't be; half-leather interior for a start. Second thought is that it is an LE version similar to the one released in the UK, and someone has added the rack and lights afterwards. Not sure whether there were any LE's released over there though.

The underbody protection was from Mantec and the winch carrier is either a Land Rover or a Mantec part depending on who you speak to! either way I wouldn't recommend it for serious offroading as it hangs too low.

See if you can get a VIN number off it, might help in identifying it.

Hiya,

That looks like a Jap import.

There's a lot of Jap imports which hit the NZ market and it's not uncommon for LR to produce special versions for the Jap market. (Back in the 90s, they produced a couple of hundred Camel Discovery lookalikes, specifically for the Jap market.)

As for tuning that one into something more 'substantial', Mantec still have some of the steering guards, you can probably still get the winch carriers but I think the rear tank guards with the receiver will be harder to come by.
