Pyrenees route-Hannibals Elephants

Does anyone have any experience of a South to North high altitude route over the Pyrenees using minor roads and tracks in their Landie. Needs to be non-damaging and not too technical or precarious as I will be wild camping with my 5 year old son . The trip will be in August so snow should not be a problem.

Any previous route notes or waypoints would be fabulous as would a good source of up to date maps for the high level tracked portion of the route.

I seem to recall an article ages ago in one of the Landie mags which showed a high plush green valley with a track through it, passable only in summer. But I can't track it down.
