Disco II Lighting question

https://forum.g4ownersclub.com/Topic13966.aspx

By DannyBalls - 1 Nov 2009

Does anyone know where to purchase or who manufactured the six pin connector that was used to power the winch mounted WARN lights on the Disco II's? The winch mounted lights on my truck were removed; however, the wiring from the relay box is still there. Any help would be appreciated.

Morning,

I'm having the same problem finding connectors, anyone know the part number?

thanks,

By adesg4 - 5 Nov 2009

I have now managed to find the correct part numbers for these 6 way male and female connectors.

They are

6 way tab housing P/No. 344265-1

6 way yellow anti-backout P/No. 345259-1

6 way female housing P/No. 344267-1

6 way yellow female anti-backout P/No. 345260-1

The relevant contacts and wire seals are shown in the attached pdf.

You will need to measure the wire size to select Part Numbers as these depend on the wire size.

Please send me wire size and part numbers when measured.

These parts are made by tycoelectronics who own AMP.

Link here goes to relevant page.

http://www.tycoelectronics.com/catalog/menu/en/17685?BML=10576,17560

Type in part numbers to search box.

If you need to source them they are available in the UK from

Dalroad Norslo, Luton, Bedfordshire Tel: 01582-505252

or

Flightspares Electronics, Essex Tel: 01702-533800

You may need a special crimping tool to fit the connector spades.

Let me know outcome.

Thanks

Before I purchase the set of SDB 160 HB's for the winch, I need to confirm that all six lamps are the same. Were the SDB 160 HBE's used on the DII's at all? If so, does anyone know the location (winch or rack mount)? From what I can tell The HB's are a driving / spot lamp while the HBE's are a driving / fog lamp.

My restoration project is moving forward. I purchased a set of SDB 160's and installed them over the weekend on the winch carrier. Had them wired up and all is good. I actually picked up the lamps for $340 US (290 GBP) from streetsideauto.com. The lamp controllers are mounted next to the binnacle. I am almost there with the rest of the restoration project. Thanks to Adrian for his helps on the connectors. I spoke with Tyco and oredered a few samples and should receive them in the next few weeks. The only components I am missing are the fuel tank and sump protection units. I will post pics once I learn how to reduce the file size.

Danny, looking good, do i recall you having a respray on the vehicle some time ago?

top marks to adrian for the links and info

regards

martin

I have not painted the vehicle as of yet. The front bumper covers are peeling and will need to be addressed in the future. I look at those blemishes as "character". I will most likely touch up those spots after I can find sump and fuel tank guards.
