G4 expedition in the Americas

Hello,
I am not a G4 owner but I do have a G4 generously on loan from Land Rover (although currently detained by customs officials in Santos Port, Brazil).
I thought you might be interested in the progress of our expedition. Our project Atlantic Rising won the 'Go Beyond' bursary from Land Rover last year. Our idea is to circumnavigate the Atlantic along the one metre contour line - this is predicted to be the new coastline of the ocean in 100 years if sea levels continue to rise.
We are creating a network between schools in low lying communities along the way and producing classroom resources based on places we visit. We are also exploring what could be lost if sea levels continue to rise and finding about some of the innovative ways that communities around the ocean are adapting to or mitigating the problems of climate change.
In September 2009 we left the UK and drove along the coast of Europe and West Africa. We then travelled with our car by container ship from Cote d'Ivoire to Brazil. Our plan is to drive up the east coast of the Americas all the way to Canada.
We have been stuck in the mud in Mauritania, picked up hitch hiking rebels in Cote d'Ivoire and camped everywhere from beaches in Western Sahara to alleyways in Dakar.
Any advice for taking a car along the Amazon or shipping between Columbia and Panama would be welcomed.

Please support Lynn and the team on this trip, it is really a great project and they are doing a lot of work with schools on this important topic.



I met with them last week as they continue to await the Defender to be released from Customs :blush: , which is a shame as it is taking a while...

have been following this for a while - hoping G4 Owners club could use some of the photos (great work) and some of the info too.

Hoping we might get a member of Atlantic Rising to join us for a show later in the year....

Hey all



Lynn, Tim and Will are now in Venezuela and heading for Central America.



They recovered the bottle in a beach in the Nort East coast of Brazil, which attracted a lot of attention from media, etc.



All is going well on the expedition and please have a look on their website and if possible make a modest donation, every little help is appreciated.
