Hi all,
I am new to the list and have been hankering after a G4 since I first saw one. I was talked out of swapping my white 2002 110 for a new LE G4 in orange in 2006 and have regretted it ever since. But now my wife has her new kitchen ;-) and while searching for a camper van for her I found a LE 2006 G4 in orange available. I estimate it will cost me as much to change now as it would have done for the new one in 2006 so I am not fully decided. It has a lot of extras, but its stuff i discounted originally as unnecessary or risky for long term ownership - leccy windows, central locking etc. The one I am going to see however has a good spec about 9k worth compared to my base model and is 4 years younger, though its no where near mint its not in bad condition and I am sure a good clean will make a huge difference. My wife says I should just paint mine and fit the bits I want although she doesn't discount buying the G4. I am not an anarak yet regarding bits so painting mine could be an option (if done with complete strip down) etc but maybe I change if I become a G4 owner ;-).
The other option is converting mine to an azalia - which was the long term plan until I saw the G4
So I will see what the deal is on Friday and maybe I also join an exclusive club or maybe not, I should look to buy with my head, but my heart is very strong

p.s one of the guys I work with was in the switzerland1 team for '84 trophy in brazil.
p.p.s I am more at home offroad on a motorbike - but now have a big family (hence landrover 110) and I will be doing enduro india next year www.chargeacrossindia.com

Still Undecided, had a nice long test drive and found the edition a bit quieter than mine current 2002 even with the roof rack, but not as fast. I have been trying to do the justification sums and have sort of managed it based on the extras it has, the fact its 4 years newer and has 40000Km less, It really felt much more luxurious than mine, BUT for very slightly more I could get an ex demo 2010 Ice edition with 1200km. Which makes me think the G4 is expensive - but as they are so rarely sold I guess thats why. I would never buy the Ice version though it looks horrid to my eyes.
The big plus for the G4 apart from the colour and what it represents is thats its a TD5 is I have a lot of extra bits for it and could swap the GKN overdrive over to it.
Any words of advice from owners

The LE will be great; I think they also had traction control which will be good! What are you thinking of doing with it, putting kit on it or leaving it "naked"?! Whichever, it will be great to gave another member!!

Well I did it, I pick my new golandy (old one was called yolandy) a week saturday. Will swap over the tow bar and overdrive, doggaurd and other quick bits to move bits from mine and then if time before my trip to UK in october install the nanocom, croytec pod with rev counter and oil pressure gauge.
I hope there is a picture attached, bodywork is good, the only problem is broken plastic at front of roof rack. I am looking forward to the luxury of electric windows central locking, carpets and aircon - all stuff I thought unnecessary and just more things to go wrong when I bought yolandy.

Great decision Ian,golandy looks fab. Will you be adding other kit to bring it in line with the regular G4s, winch, flood lights etc? Checked out your cross india site, that looks like an amazing trip, not a bike fan, but would love to do it in the landy. Good luck with everything and your great work for your son. Rich

Hi Rich,
Thanks for looking at the site etc.. I called landrover about the xenon lights on offer (posted on this site) but discovered while speaking to a pleasant lady that the offer had been posted in january - doh! and that they had all gone. I have got a bid in for a webasto heater at the moment with the winch and flood lights probably coming later - next year. I am not bothered with creating an exact match of the G4 competition vehicles - However I do want to add bits that make it better for me. initially it will be the family holiday car then gradually I plan to off road more when my youngest boys are older.
I plan on keeping this one, although I feel sad for yolandy who is pefectly good but just not a G4

Typical! - I have been looking for a G4 110 for about 4 years and having now agreed to buy mine I saw another one popup on the local car site on friday which was much cheaper and less km's at another garage, when I looked on saturday it was gone.
Today I took my older white yolandy in so that they can transfer the towbar to my new G4 and wat did I see - yes the other G4 that was advertised on Friday evening - he had bought it from them. I mentioned it to him and he said yes but it wasn't in as good condition as mine, lots of rust etc - well he would say that wouldn't he! He also added that there were only 10 Gç 110's in switzerland and I have now seen 4 of them
Here are the three G4's he has, Mine is the one in the middle, I also see the 90 on the right has now been sold.

swisspace (19/08/2010) the only problem is broken plastic at front of roof rack.
Hi Ian Glad you decided on the golandy. Looks great. When you get chance please send me your VIN and if you bump into them again the others in switzerland as these can be added to my LE vehicles register. The broken plastic on the roofrack is the powder coating coming off the steel plate at the front of the roofrack and should be cut off, rust treated and painted as soon as possible. This is a notorious rust area on these roofracks, especially the rear side. I think your latest photo shows the one on the left having had this done.

Thanks for info on roof rack, I will probably make a plaque myself sometime as its an edition vehicle and not an event one, I am sure I can knock something similar up with stickers.
I will try and note all vins that I come across from now on for you.
