Hi, The LR Discovery is 21 years old this year and 21 years ago next month (Oct) the Discovery was launched in and around Plymouth.  Myself and another member of the Discovery Owners Club, Devon and Cornwall section are organising a Discovery Birthday weekend 16th/17th Oct. We will if not on a smaller scale be re creating the launch,  There will also be a Charity Raffle/Buffet come Social on the Sat (16th) Evening.  It would be really nice if we could have at least one G4 Discovery for this event. For more info please visit the following website. www.discoverybirthdayparty.co.uk

Many thanks for taking your time to read this.

5 days until this event and we still have no G4 Discovery's. There are going to be well over 100 Discovery's on Plymouth Hoe Sat morning along with the local Land Rover Dealer, Roger Young's with a couple of D4 demonstrators. It would be a real shame for this event to pass and not have a G4 Discovery there. Please visit the following Website for more information.  www.discoverybirthdayparty.co.uk

Many thanks

The Devon and Cornwall Section of the Discovery Owners Club held a 21st Birthday weekend 16th/17 Oct for the Discovery in and around Plymouth area. This was the location of the original launch back in 1989 so it seemed a fitting place to celebrate its 21st Birthday. Discovery's from all over the country decended on Plymouth for the weekend, which recreated on a smaller scale the actual launch of the vehicle visiting, Saturday, Plymouth Hoe and Mt Edgcumbe C/Park. Sunday, South Devon Steam Railway and the Two Bridges Hotel on Dartmoor. There was a Birthday Party held on the Saturday Night at the Holland Inn, Hatt nr Saltash. A Raffle was also held on the Saturday Night. This raised £650. This will be split 50/50 between Project Mobility 4X4 and Ellie's Haven.  Please visit www.discoverybirthdayparty.co.uk for a breakdown of the weekends events

PS. A bloody good time was had by all and the sight of 76 Land Rover Discovery's, old and new driving through Plymouth on a Saturday Afternoon was an Awesome sight.

PPS.  It is hope to do this Event again next year, dates 15th/16th Oct 2011. Please put these dates in your diary and lets see if we can get a G4 Discovery or two here this time.

hi lee would of liked to attended and im sure a few more discovery g4 club members would of ,

but fuel costs would of been around £130 +

and on top of that hotel for the night £50+

so makes it a bit expensive

is there any chance it could be a camping weekend next year as we all have eqiupment ,as used at all landrover shows during the year

maybe for those doing a lot of miles some kind of static display for the weekend

just a suggestion ,and thanks for telling us how good the party was

and would certainly like to join you next year ,maybe even have 5 or 6 g4 members  next year

Hi Dave ZRX,

Thanks for your reply.  I do hope that a couple of G4 Discovery's do make it down next year.  As for camping, there are a few Campsites in and around the area.  A few people stopped at the Riverside, which is just off the A38 at Marsh Mills Roundabout, Plymouth with Roof Tents etc.  Please keep an eye on the website sometime after Christmas.
