SAFETY/PRODUCT RECALL

This may be a silly question?

How do you know if your vehicle has been back to Landrover for any safety recall work??

I own an ex 2006 reece Disco 3 V8 which was one of the first Discovery 3's off the production line and have discovered that it was built mid to late 2004 and was shipped out of the uk early 2005 for the reece work for 2006 event?

In 2005 there was a recall subject being fuel breather and tank safety issues?? Someone here may have more details??

A very rare phrase to follow 'but the few times I have ever filled my Disco 3 to the top of the fuel tank'

I have always had scarey experiences as in the fuel leaks out of the tank breather system above the rear diff and spills on to the rear silencer pipe work which after a recent trip to devon and back i fillied up several times and after a 200+ mile trip before filling up the exhausts were extremely hot and I HAD GREAT concerns re a fire??

Knowing that my car didn't return to the uk until after the 2006 event and also since learning that my car and her sister car had a number of bolt on parts that weren't type approved when fitted in 2004 Landrover sold both D3's off for breaking via auction

So I am concerned that my car at least may have never had the safety recalls checked and rectified

Do you think i would get anywhere now with Landrover??;)

Hi,

I've only had a quick scan over your post at the top of this page so apologies if i've miss read. As far as recalls go, all you need to do is pop in to a LR Dealer and speak very nice to service desk, explain you would like to see if there are any outstanding recalls? They should ask for you reg or vin and they will bring it up on their computer. I know this as i had recall work done that was outstanding 4 years plus after i bought my 55 plate G4 D3 in 2008. It wasn't even the garage i purchased it from either they(LR dealers) should all be good to sort you out as its still outstanding so should show up next to your reg/vin on the system. And breath, i hope this is good and what you need, keep us informed.

Sweep.

I might be asking an odd question here but, if the car was sold off by LR for breaking, why is it still on the road ? Surely if it's a break only car then it shouldn't have a vin tag attached? This might explain why any recalls haven't been done, as this car shouldn't even be on the road ?!

There are a few of these vehicles about that were supposed to have been scrapped when disposed of by LR. My records show this as having been scrapped.
