fuel economy on TDV6 DISCO

By Brendan - 7 Jan 2011

I'm looking for feedback on what other TDV6 G4's '08 are doing mpg as mine seems to be between 17-19 to the gallon, if I put a trailer behind it, it goes down to about 15ish.  Used to get about 23 before I had a turbo change - it's in at main dealers again for suspension faults again and I've mentioned to them to check it - again they've previously told me there's nothing wrong with it.

Should be doing early 20's you are in to V8 mpg range my non G4 Tdv6 that had Goodyear Mtr's and roofrack on an 07 use to return 21-22 round town and 24 on a run. Have you had any EGR issues?? Won't always put light on dash when faulty

Hi

Have an 08 D3 use it everyday for work cruise on motorways about 69/70mph and can get normally about 27.5mpg but only use top grade fuel eg Shell regular but did put a tank of Tesco fuel once mpg dropped to 23 and took 3 refill to get back to normal. I have MTR's on as well which have done 42k miles will last another 5k.

Hi,

Had no EGR issues and only use Shell or Esso fuel but mainly Shell.  It's at the dealers at the moment so see what it is like when it comes back.

Seem to remember a photo of your dash showing it doing 33mpg last year.

Hi Brendan,

I seem to get  pretty constant 23-24mpg, thats set up as she came out the factory, tyres, plaques etc. Would expect an average of 410 ish miles range on a well topped up tank. I'm mostly commuting 10 or so miles up the A3 and back, fast and slow, that said even long journeys I get about the same mileage.

The only time things really drop is if I drift above 75mph.

Hope this helps,

Rich

brendan

i know your problem

its YOUR LEFT FOOT ,YOUR NEVER BELOW 95 MPH [on a private road of course officer] :w00t::w00t::w00t:...the only time ive seen you drive slow when you followed us to eastnor castle for THE  LRO PHOTO SHOOT

By mrandmrsh - 12 Jan 2011

I drive like I want to get somewhere rather than potter around and find I get 20 to (maybe tops) 24, with 1.8t of caravan on the back it drops to 19 to 21.  Yours sounds well off to me tbh.

Best of luck

Hi Brenden ,I get 23/24 most of the time,Check that the preheater is not working all the time in this cold spell as  that will use extra fuel.Richard

You guys are really cheering me up.

I am getting 27mpg out of the Freelander2 and was thinking I was in Disco TDV6 territory.

Book says 35mpg, right foot says 31mpg, roof rack/rails 29mpg, MT tyres dropped it down to 27mpg.

Yes I could manage 30mpg driving Miss Daisy, but prefer to keep up with Brendan

readout on my G4 says 22 ..actual real figure is only 19mpg on mine ( using a fuel app on iphone )

only get an average of 330 miles out of a full tank

Kept a record for the last year . Lowest 16mpg ..most 22.8mpg

Hi Andy

Just following the AA low loader :w00t:

By all these fuel figures, the best vehicles in the club must be the D110's with the aerodynamics of the proverbial, mine still does 27mpg, so much for improving the economy of modern cars when 50 year old technology wins.!!!

When i had my 08 TDV6, never saw better that 23 on the fib gauge, meaning 19-20 in real life,,

Saving that, rarely get better than 24 out of the last 3 Puma Defenders 110's i have had,,
