Was that tingley bar fish shop? And Morley in Leeds? Not being a mong honest! we used to live in Morley and frequent the tingley chippy. Didn't have g4 then though.

Slighty off topic, sorry....;) and what I was originally going to post after going off on tangent was that I was only reading through a back issue of LRO today and saw BD08 VTM in there!

That's the one " Mermaid ", I asked me Missus and we couldn't for life of us remember the other chippy!

As said Mermaid is up the road in front of Asda, used to be called the Fastnet (back in the days when FastNet didn't mean fibre optic Internet) but, according to a google "changed after Fastnet race disaster of 79".

Erm, what back issue was VTM in sweep? As far as I am aware it has not been in any mags so would be excited if it was. If it is that darn VTN again, hogging the limelight grrrrrrrr :)

Cheers

Hi Craig,

I have to apologise profusely for being a complete tit! It's VTW (can't find the well embarrassed emoticon!) the W does look like an M honest I even re-checked it prior to posting!!!!!! Best be getting my eyes checked seen as my job sometimes requires me to have a loaded rifle!!

I see your over on the Defender2 site too.

Damn, as expected always the bridesmaid :-)

I am on Def2 forum as well. I recently got rid of my rebuilt 1987 200 Tdi CSW (with GKN o/d and lots of other nice bits) as it really needed another rebuild and since buying the G4D3 realised that having an old 110 for playing off road is pointless when the D3 is so much better (for a total numpty like me) off road anyway. As a result the 110 was getting no use whatsoever.

However, wife's car is ready for replacement (57 plate Seat Altea Freetrack 4 which has been a great car and still feels like it'll be going strong for many years but she seems to want a change). So one plan is to buy a new 110 USW XS, stick it in the business and get the VAT back, pay the lower BIK tax on it and stick all bills including fuel through the business and let the wife use the D3 through the week for her commuting and occasionally drag it out for a play off road. The 110 would become our normal day to day car as a family and my mid week hack as well.

Just not sure I can face leaving all the toys behind (the HSE G4 is just such a fantastically complete car) and live with a Def 110.

Its a shame LR don't see fit to make a decent 110 USW Limited Edition (along the lines of the Fire and Ice or SVX, I particularly liked the Ice edition) for the UK.

I am all ready to sign up, got a decent deal from local dealer but was hoping at Geneva they would announce a 110 USW special but no - anyone got any inside information about anything likely in the near future? Also pondering if the 2012MY will be when they bring in the 2.2 engine and would that be a good or bad thing?

Decisions, decisions.

Of course, as a contractor on temporary work I may end up selling the whole lot if I struggle to find work but it's my job and I wanted it, as they say :hehe:

Hi Craig,

I know where you are coming from with ref the toys and what a complete vehicle the HSE D3 is, I had the G4 V8 HSE D3 which I sold to buy my current G4 110 USW. I do miss the D3 but do enjoy the 110 which is for me as complete as the D3 minus the luxury! I do have to concentrate more off road in the 110 though where as I just used to point the D3 at an obstacle and drive with all the hard work done for me!! The 110 is our family/camping hack as we do not have another vehicle, some days I find it harder to drive than others but hey that's 110s for you.

As for inside info on 2012MY defender you'd be best asking Alan Edwards on here.

Just do the right thing and buy a second D3 G4.

It just so happen I know where there is a great example for sale as well :D

I do agree i have a g4 FFrr and decided to get a G4 110 for running about locally and occasionally for work, but not having all the toys is difficult to get used to after having them, so sold it and bought a d3.

Wrong Wrong Wrong - keep the D3 for yourself and get the family a Freelander to nip to the shops in.

They are easier to park, easier (but not much) on fuel, and more reliable :P - the HSE has plenty of toys, and can cope with the worst of British weather as well as any of LR other products.

Only slightly biased :D
