Hi Guys

i am finishing of wiring up warn roof spots, and want to know do they only work from the switch or are they connected into the high beam circuit as well

Thanks

Not sure about the Defender or Freelander, but on the D3 you need to have the low beam on before you can turn the spots on.

RRS is same, need headlights on, then  switch on spots, work on both low and high beam.

wired mine on my d2 through relay to main beam but also through a switch so have option of main beam all lights on or roof lights off

I rewired mine into the sidelights so I could have rooflights on and no headlamps on main beam. Main beam on made for lights being in eye line when working on front. There were 2 switches with 2 functions so lights were paired inner pair and outer pair. The lights for 2003 were dual mode so gave dip and main in the lamp unit so could be set for flood lignt and driving.

Is that right ? I'm about to get mine sorted out (yes Dave, the naked RRS is no longer naked :P ) and expected to find they would only work when the main beams were on ? As in I thought it would be a case of headlights on, flick spotlight switch on, at which point they would only illuminate when the main beam was activated. Is that not right ?

For instance, I'd just expected that they would be linked in with the main beam circuit, so activated on flash mode as well.

NO LONGER NAKED:w00t::w00t::w00t:

yes wired mine in relay so can been flashed with main beam

Stuart,

In restoring the same on my D3 the circuit was traced to show that a positive feed from the main beam is required to trigger the main relay via a logic box. The LR engineers had disabled the spots by disconnecting this feed to make the lighting legal.

Thanks Emon, that's certainly a good starting point. May be a daft question but, what does the logic box look like ? Is it something we should be able to easily find ?

The dash switch on mine has always been illuminated, so there's certainly power there, it's just where the 'break' in the system is that's stopping them from working. I'd heard they were all deactivated differently though.
