D3 in Melbourne

So, I wander into Melbourne Land Rover to meet a couple of chaps from aulro.com and what's sat on a ramp in the *massive* workshop, but a bright orange D3 in full 2008 livery  Had to stop and look twice, thought my eyes were deceiving me !!

Turns out it's one of the 2 built for the selections / promotional work in Oz. It's not fully equipped, doesn't have roof lights on the rack but has everything else. The other 2008 D3 belongs to a chap called Robert Pepper, author of the 4WD Handbook, seems to do a lot of offroad driver training and photo shoots with Land Rover. He's taken all the stickers off his car though.

So, when I do finally get round to shipping mine, it's not be the only orange car in Melbourne. It'll be the only RRS though :)

Mate, I thought my eyes were deceiving me, had to take my sunglasses off, turn round and go an have another look to confirm it !! I was meeting one of the chaps from MLR though so asked him what the story was, hence finding out that it was real. Apparently MLR sold both the cars after the selections stage and it's still in the hands of the original buyer, think he said his name was Ken.

Not drinking Fosters or XXXX, there's too many others to choose from that are much better ;)

Saw it again yesterday, being driven through St Kilda.

I was following the wife home as we'd just collected her 1979 Triumph Spitfire from Melbourne docks, she spotted the G4 first, stomped on the brakes to wave at me (I'd already seen it of course) and caused me to try and make her car anchor up sharpish. After 3 months in a container it wasn't all that keen to stop quickly but it just about managed it :P
