I joined the club 2 years ago in the belief that other owners, like me, would use their G4's as they were intended. Doing such things as off roading, weekends away, mountain bikes, kyaks and camping.
Only once has there been a possible event, on the river Wye, which was ideal, but that was postponed again and again and then cancelled.
So it is with sad regret that I have decided not to renew my membership with the club.
I would jump at the chance of rejoining, if the strategy of the club changes, to become real off road enthusiasts.
I wish you all the best for the future.
Sadly goodbye.

I have put ideas forward for a weekend away previously open to all the club members, but there seems to be very little interest as finding things to do of interest to many is difficult, and finding an area convenient for all the members to get to is also difficult, as the trip to the Wye valley albeit convenient for some would be inconvenient to other members.
A lot of members do organize trips to areas such as the peak district but they are usually discussed at shows that we attend every year.
The club is more biased towards attending shows and the forum and not going "off roading" there are clubs more suited to this like the local area glass meetings that actively do such trips away camping.
Members are always welcome to help organize a trip away and support the committee, as there is a lot more to organizing such weekends away than you would realize.

From my personal point of view, it's really sad when an enthusiast leaves the club. I have received lots of advice since joining, but I would not take my D3 G4 anywhere other than around our fields. My young daughter uses the bike and Kayak - under supervision.
For serious off roading, I think a person would be better off obtaining a vehicle adapted for this purpose, as do the farm guys around me - 'rolled it again, dented it again, - what the hell' !!
Mine stands me too much money to do the rough stuff, but I still want to be involved where and when possible.
Hope to meet up with you one day.

Hi
I as you I don't want to Roll it or Bend it but some sensible group off roading and outdoor experiences using a TOP of the range GO ANYWHERE Land Rover could have been great .

Hi Sandy, I agree with your comments. :) It now remains for like minded people to get together and do something of mutual interest - as has been suggested in a previous reply.
For my part, I'm booked in at Eastnor towards the end of this month, but for the whole day course this time - I want to use that steep concrete incline - up and down :w00t: then the rock / boulder section ;) using their D4's of course !! Not bad for a 68 year old dull bugger :P
Should you be visiting the Newport - Gwent area in the future, then you are welcome to come to the farm, where we have some steep sections of grass, and a bit of outcrop rock to try should you really want to :w00t: You could even camp out with the sheep !!
There you are - now you can stay in the club :)
Best wishes,
Tony
