Hi All
Acquired a battery conditioner from a friend and its the type with a cigarette lighter type plug on one end, it came with his aston and i want to know if it will work on the FFRR and the d3 he was told to plug it into the 12v socket in the boot as its permanently live and it will work. Thought i would see if anyone else has a similar device??

Hi Mark,

After my recent cold weather problems and trawling through the disco3 forums, I got a CTEK Multi MXS 10 especially for the D3, which I now leave permanently plugged in. It works without damaging the electronics of the vehicle which is always live and active. So two things I would look at:
  • make sure that the charger is of a type that does not spike the electronics
  • the cigarette lighter does not have an in-line diode which may prevent true charging cycles to be effective (best to connect it straight to the battery)

I use an Accumate charger/conditioner on both the Discovery and the TVR via the cig lighter and have for a few years with no problem. I just make sure i always connect it to the car before turning on the plug. (avoids any surging). Am sure it will work the same on the FFRR or D3.

Cheers Matt.
