Ever thought running a petrol G4 was too expensive? Ours is LPG converted, at 68p a litre (only £45 to fill the well hidden toroidal tank) and only £200 road tax, it is more economical to run than a diesel equivalent and definitely a lot more fun.
This was bought by us from Landrover in 2006 having been used as a press vehicle in the Thailand stage of the 2005 G4 Challenge. There was 6000 miles on the clock when we bought it and it has now completed just under 60000 miles. It has been fully serviced and maintained by an approved landrover dealer and is in very good condition. It is the fully specified G4 Challenge vehicle with all the usual extras, including functioning winch with cable, working roof driving lights, dog guard and kayak mounting kit.
The gas conversion was done by CLS dual fuel and the system has also been serviced by them each year. The gas tank is toroidal and is situated where the spare tyre should be. So that apart from the gas guage in the centre console and the gas filler next to the petrol cap you'd never know it had been converted. There is no reduction in performance, just a big smile on your face when you say 'fill er up' and get change out of 50 notes.
Why are we selling our much loved and well looked after vehicle? Well, as age is now getting the better of us, the wise older head is starting to rule the young heart and much as we love it we're looking to down-size to a less noticable and smaller mode of transport!

Part number is LR006846 Aqua Sports Carrier. There are only high priced ones on ebay at present.
Alternatively Duckworth Parts (08444707381) tend to have them cheaper than most £50-£75.00

Hi I am intrigued by the LPG conversion as I have recently bought the same year petrol G4, but was advised that converting to LPG would 'ruin' the pedigree. You thoughts on this appreciated - I will also look up the company that you mentioned to find out the cost of such a conversion.
BTW:As well as the LPG, I am considering putting road tyres on the car for those 'on road' days. As it is a petrol and due to the callipers I believe I am looking at 19" or 20" rims fitted perhaps with Pirelli, Continental or Michelin road tyres... Any comments on fitting a new set of rims and tyres for best economy appreciated. It would be good to get over 20mpg.
But love the car and the power... and taking it off road is awesome! Just need to plan for that trek down to South Africa and fit a tent on the roof!!
