Sat Nav Updates

Hi All,

Quick question (I have searched the forum but only found a few for sale posts related to sat navs)

How easy is it to update the built in sat nav, I would assume (though I might be wrong) that my 2005 RR sport has not been updated. Is simply a case of popping in a disc or do I need to some sort of hard reset ? Suppose I could just get a dealer to do it but guess they'll take my eyes out.

The actual discs seem easy to come by, and apparently update instructions are in the owners manual.... which unfortunatley didnt come with my car....

Thanks in advance

Rgs

No use at all sorry, only disco 3 and RRS run same map discs, single disc set which covers western europe inc UK contact me if you need to upgrade

I will eventually want to upgrade the mapping system assuming its something relativly straight foward. When you buy the discs I assume they come with some sort of instruction booklet ?

Thanks in advance

No real instruction included, but straight forward slide your front seat all the way forward, eject your disc, insert new disc and sat nav will automatically update, then use as normal

Thanks Stu.

Sounds simple enough, will get a disc ordered up then.

I've just updated my RRS's satnav now the car's here in Oz and it's as simple as Stu suggests, all you need do is put a new DVD in the player under the passenger seat and it'll run through the update itself, you just need to make a few selections at the end. The only hindrance is the fire extinguisher mounting, you'll need to slide the seat forward & back whilst ejecting the DVD as the mounting bracket covers the DVD player's slot.

You may find that if the nav's previously been set to allow programming on the move that the function disappears with the new disc, you'll need to get it re-enabled again. It has done with mine, but that may also be to do with the fact it's gone from the UK DVD to an Australian one, I'm not sure if it's a function you can have here. I'll soon find out though...
