It might be the only Camel you see at Billing!
The CTClub is having a hard time with the organisers, Live Promotions. Now, the is always two sides to a story and it is more complicated than it sounds, but basically we face a bill of £1275 plus vat if the club wants to put on a display.
We note that the G4 club isn't on the list of clubs. Is this a conscious decision, or just one of these things?
I remember the Billing "good years" when we had a G4 vs CT challenge in the main arena! I can remember who won, or even if it was a competition, but I recall Jerry Thurston got a soaking!
Cheers

Must be a mistake by the organisers they do know we are attending and putting on a club stand, at the end of the day live promotions are a businessand to keep the shows going need to be profitable, in the past the trade pitches covered the costs so clubs could have more free tickets. But i think they are better to do as they have done we pay for any extra tickets required as a club. The other option is like lr max at stoneleigh did and just cancel the show and not run it again. There are other shows that fall over themselves to invite clubs as they know we are a draw for the crowds.
We build a display, have an impressive stand, do arena events, write editorial for magazines/programmes, supply photos, and spend hundreds of pounds in fuel to attend. Most organisers recognise the investment we make. It only seems to be Live Promotions that takes an adversarial approach.
One of our committee heard today that another large club is getting grief, so perhaps it is not just us!

Just emailed Kelly and she amazingly never received the reservation form, i agree other show organisers bend over backwards to get us to attend and livedo the exact opposite. Will have to give her a call in the morning and find out whats going on, but at this rate there could be no camel or g4 club in attendance. We didn't get invited in the arena at Harrogate which was the first time ever, i hope they don't have a problem with us only having three cars at Billing last year after they changed the dates. Mark

We are not big clubs. We just look big because we stand out from the rest due to past marketing from LandRover, the vehicle colours and their history. In membership numbers we are both very small.
|
By DurtyDisco - 29 Jun 2013
We may be small in terms of member numbers, we can't be that big due to the limited numbers of production vehicles in terms of other Landrover Marques, however in terms of "prescence" CT OC and G4 OC have to be two of the most iconic Landrover Brands, when taken in that context we ARE big clubs.....
A Landrover club show without CT OC and G4 OC is like Fish without chips
I know the LRO are EXPECTING us to be at Peterbrough as we are in discussion with the Clubs Editor about doing some articles about the G4OC as a club and arena events to celebrate the 10th Anivversay of the 2003 G4 Challenge, if we are not there then the LRO are going to be left with lots of egg on face after publisicing our prescence in the magasines leading up to Septembers event.....

Dear all
Just to let you know, the Camel Trophy Club has written to Live Promotions informing them we have made the difficult decision NOT to attend Billing Land Rover Fest. The CT Club of Austria, who were sending a sizeable contingent are also withdrawing their vehicles. We have asked if our space and passes could be distributed to other clubs, and G4OC specifically. We thought this would be a nice gesture in a mutually disappointing situation. We are encouraging our members to attend Eastnor (www.eastnorlandrovershow.com) in lieu and are moving our AGM. We do not know if this difficult decision will affect our invitation to attend Peterborough which is also organised by Live Promotions. Hope to see you at Eastnor - it would be nice to have a interclub get together, which we haven't done for a while. |

As you guys have already said that some organisers take an adversarial approach, to me me it is rather narrow minded as we - clubs, magazines, shows, trade/suppliers and the public/consumers, are a little eco system dependent on each other and generating interest for each other... never mind they will realise...
On a positive, John Pearson (LRO Magazine) has been in touch with both us and Camel. We were going to do a weekend photo-shoot jointly for a big "Camel vs G4" event this year but timing did not allow us, so we are now planning to do the same next year early on. So hopefully this will make an impact on the show organisers. :)

least we got that to look forward too then emon
p.s
mark ,are we then going to get camels allocation of 8 tickets ? and be on thier pitch ?
|
By Pip66 - 6 Jul 2013
Dave, thats so mercenary. :Whistling:
|
By marco g4 - 6 Jul 2013
No will be going to a club that got turned away, they will only allow the standard amount of passes per club, so if more are required they will need to be paid for.
