Had to start sometime.....

Well I guess the faults had to start sometime.... following on from the "whistle" that developed, then vanished the Peterborough weekend, took the under body guards off last night to investigate the hoses and see if there are any holes/splits etc and turns out there is a split seam in the intercooler.......

So that explains the lacklustre performance and diminishing fuel economy!

New fast road Allisport intercooler and new silicone hoses on the way!!

If you have a winch, you should go for the winch type intercooler.

I had it on my D3, install is very straight forward, easy enough.

good new it is not a Turbo then... :w00t:

I'm putting the fast road (FR) bigger intercooler from Allisport in place of the standard LR intercooler so coupled with the remap even more ponies under the bonnet....

I looked at the offroad (OR) intercooler which has the same fin pitch and density as the FR, but is strangely more expensive than the FR, having spoken at length to Andrew at Allisport he advises that as the G4 is fitted with the protruding winch mount the FR is fine to fit and doesn't get clogged that much when going offroad as the sump guard and winch mount protect it, the OF intercooler was designed specifically for D3's that have the recessed/hidden winch mount between the front chassis rails as there is no space for the FR as its full of winch.

We'll see what happens......
