Firstly,Hello.I think I should introduce myself.My name is Marc.I'm no stranger to Landys,currently owning 2 90's a 110 overlander and a Series 1.& Previously having owned a 2003 D2 Disco. I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable peeps could give me a little guidance. I'm looking for a D2 Td5.I don't want an original challenge vehicle.So first question.How do I know a genuine one from a look a like? |

Do you want a Look-alike G4 or a standard Td5 Disco? For standard ones, there are good guides in French in Univers Land Magazine or in English in LRO Magazine.As for look-alike, there are a couple of nice ones heres, based on Limited Edition G4 ones. A bientôt !

OOOPS, Just saw your link.
Glad to see you want a G4 look-alike then. However bear in mind you may get a real one for look-alike money if you are lucky Anyway, this LHD Td5 is a Limited Edition one that was outfitted to look like a G4, this is NOT a genuine event vehicle. G4D2 specialists will tell you more. A bientôt ;)
PS: where about are you in France?

Hi Marc,
The best way of telling a real G4 Challenge Vehicle, or one of the G4 Limited Edition vehicles is to gather as much information as you can on the vehicle and send an email to Technical@g4ownersclub.com Adrian who is our technical officer will be able to tell you from the database of vehicles we have if this is a "real G4" or a pretend one.
There are quite a few G4 LE (Limited Editions) available and they come in 4 colours, Yellow, Black, Silver and of course Tangiers Orange

Just to say all 2003 event Discovery 2 are V8's. The Limited edition ones will be TD5's :)

Thanks for the info guys.So....I want a Limited edition then.As it has to be a Td5. I am English,by the way.Living in the Dordogne region of SW France. Free time is spent doing all manner of Landy orientated things. Green laneing,trials and overlanding.The Pyrenees being a favorite destination. Marc.

Mark, We do not live that for from each other, especially if you come to the Pyrénées.
Make sure you get you Disco before the summer for the French G4OC tour in south of France!

hi marc welcome to the orange side :)
DONT WANT TO PUT YOU OFF
but this supposed challenge truck is in fact a TD5 specail edition
[ive got a TD5 EDITION IN ORANGE]
this truck has been for sale for around 18 months !!!!
it was listed before on autotrader , also appeared on ebay
dealer was sent multiple emails from members asking him to remove the working
[ g4 challenge event discovery ]
i also sent him a email telling him thats its got
wrong roofrack
wrong lights
winch on front wrong [ and in wrong place ]
stickers all in wrong places
was in fact NOT as challenge truck as they were V8 engines
at this piont it disappeared from auto trader / ebay
untill you have found it again
its still with same dealer !!!seems very strange why it hasnt sold , ive email again mulitple times for its history but never had a reply
not to put you off it but thats the details i got about it , seems very strange its never sold
i would be very cautious about buying it

p.s mate andy has just brought a TD5 G4 EDITION from foleys for £7.999

I will not be buying this particular D2.The dealer said.He had no idea of the genuine mileage as the speedo had been changed from a Kmh one to a mph one 2000 miles ago.No service history. He said it was not an event vehicle but was a factory special edition..Hmmmm. I'll keep looking. Any ideas where to look?I have scoured Ebay & Autotrader.Plus all the French sites.With no luck.:-(
