Hi, There is an article in this months LRO magazine. Toger you were talking about how the orange paintwork was chosen in a earlier thread. It mentions a rumour that a Land Rover marketing team had a bright orange pot in their kitchen and that is where the inspiration came from. I bit had to beleive :w00t: G4 owners club even has a mention:). Also another rumour is that 2008/9 G4 Challenge might be heading for the Himalayas, Beijing, Mongolia. Lewis

You'll also see on page 142 & 143 the story of my Disco purchase. It seems John P has revealed more than Land Rover have about the next G4 too, his editorial description of the 3rd G4 challenge sounds very insightful, it'll be great to be involved if i can swing it - i've always wanted to go to Nepal! I've also written an article for a later edition (i think October) about a race i had between Giles Wolfe's G4 110 and one of his M-A-D mountain bike team at the Rockingham circuit - so get your LRO subscription in and read all about it! Cheers, Brian.

Sorry, subscribers get their copies a few days earlier than they appear in the shops... it's the September issue (issue 10 2007) which arrived in the post for me yesterday.Lots of info on the G4 and i've been told that LR will be issueing a statement next week - even though they meant to announce it yesterday, but it's been delayed for some reason and they haven't updated the LR website to change the 13th August date that was put on there about a month ago... Brian.

You'll also see on page 142 & 143 the story of my Disco purchase. Cheers, Brian. Brian, Are you on a contract with LROI now? Nice article by the way.
|
By brianreynolds - 17 Aug 2007
No contract, just writing interesting stuff that comes my way with the G4 contacts - you'll all be the first to know what is coming your way!
I'll be the first to say that it's worth having an LRO subscription - i've had one since i was about 17!
Brian.
P.S. Had another ok to try another G4 related article for another LRO mag - not sure when it'll get into the mag but i'll let you know!
P.P.S. Chief Editor says the M-A-D MTB 'vs' Defender article is going to be in the November mag - reserve your copy now!

|
By brianreynolds - 20 Aug 2007
There will be an application process started soon - the announcement was to be last Monday, but there are issues with permissions in the countries that are proposed for the 2008 Challenge, so it's been delayed a wee while. Once that is announced the G4 Challenge website will fire into action and you can apply through that. If it's anything like the challenge in 2006 (and 2003 for that matter) then the process will be something like this:- web/paper applications accepted (a form of around 20 pages with the chance to sell yourself in the outdoor/adventure/first-aid/general knowledge/fitness/driving/land-rover knowledge etc....) - from these entries about 50 people will be picked to go to a weekend of National selections in each of the countries that are represented (this might be different in 2008 as there will apparently be 2 entries per nation - i.e. a man and a woman, whereas the 2006 event had only one of either sex) - the previous challenges than picked the top of the national selections (2 in 2003 and 3 in 2006, with 2006 having top bloke, top woman and top either sex) As i said above, it will probably be different this time, maybe 2 top blokes and 2 top women? - The top people from each nation then go to a central location (Eastnor castle for 2003 & 2006) to battle it out for a week to firstly build friendships between nations and also for the judges (central and national) to decide who will represent each country. - Then those people go and have the time of their lives round the world representing their countries! Basically read the rules when they become available on the website and make sure you sell yourself on the entry form - don't lie, just be positive! Good luck! Brian.
