G4 Owners Club

Website Updates

By Peter Jarrett - 14 Aug 2007

Hello all,

Following a (very) long slog through an awful lot of photographs, I've now added several new sections to the website. If you browse to http://www.g4ownersclub.com you will see several new sections have been added:

  • Joining the Club: You can now download the membership form and even pay your fees online via Paypal
  • About The Vehicles: By far the most comprehensive section, with summary information about which vehicles where used in which sections of which Events, as well as hundreds of pictures of each vehicle in action during the event. The 2006 vehicle pages also have downloadable Spec Sheets so you can see exactly what was used on each car.
  • Contact Us: This has been updated with contact details for all the committee members - as well as their names handily enough!

Please take a moment to have a look through and let me know any thoughts for what else we can add.  I would quite like to include some "I bought one of these" mini essays from people who have bought an ex-event vehicle as I think this would make for some interesting reading.

If you are interested in contributing something, then can you email me a short write up about the vehicle, or what you've done with it since you got it (holiday etc.) say about 200 words, as well as a picture of you and the car. Please make sure you also include your full real name and county and of course country (i.e. "Peter Jarrett, Yorkshire, UK")s o I can credit you properly :D. Drop me anything you have via webmaster@g4ownersclub.com

Those who haven't officially "joined" the club yet, please take a mo to fill out the form and get it in the post along with your fees as we want to add some members only content but obviously when we do, you won't be able to see it otherwise!

Any thoughts though please let me know

Peter - fantastic..............

Did have one thought that might make the web site more relevant to LR; adding a list of the special Edition kit available via the LR dealers - will try to get some info next week as our accessory guru is on holiday.

Regards,

Alan

Hi Alan,

No probs - email me over whatever you can get and i'll get it on the site.

I think i'll have to create a "Limited Editions" section as thats probably the best place to try and gather together the info as it's so unique

Very good Peter, shame very few of the D3 pics are from behind so I can't identify my car :w00t:

Alan E, great suggestion, perhaps LR can come up with the definitive Winch remote details

Chaps

At the risk of advisisng what people may know, I notice that in the 2003 section it talks about how all 4 LR vehicle models were used for the challenge.  Just so everyone is aware, the original concept of the G4 was to ensure a number of things - it relefcted the 4 wheel drive of the vehicles and the nature of th terrain, it reflected the 4 continents the vehicles would be on and it reflected the 4 models within the range.  No one at this time knew there would be a fifth added!

Seciondly, the original name for the Challenge was G4s Challenge and the logo etc was developed with this in mind.  'G' potentially meaning global.  However, the logo in use (similiar to the current logo) could be read Gas in certain ways, and thus it was rightly felt that we should drop the 's' which we did, and thus move to G4 Challenge.  The name of which adorns your car!
