Incredibly rare "G4 Challenge" ROOF RACK DEFLECTOR mini-production !!!

Hey G4 Gang and LR genuine accessories "Expedition" or "G4 Challenge" roofrack owners.

I am proud to have arranged the (potential) mini-production of the über rare roof rack deflector for the genuine Land Rover Accessories L322 roofrack ( roof racks were produced by Safety Devices BTW).

These deflectors were made by LR Special Vehicles for the G4 challenge Range Rovers in 2003, therefore were never sold to the public. They do seriously limit noise inside the cabin and in theory fuel consumption/mileage

As a matter of fact, only about 40 were made, and most of them were destroyed when LR had the Range Rover come back from Australia and took all their gear off in order to resale the vehicle to the public as regular used L322s (bar the obvious Tangiers orange paintjob!)

This can be usefull for G4 challenge L322 owners, but on a wider scale to any L322 owner who owns an official Land Rover roof rack, a.k.a. the Expedition roof rack or the G4 challenge roof rack.

Please Read carefully

I am not directly selling, just arranging the production once there are at least 5 deposit taken on the 5 units (I ordered one already of course)

I have been looking for this deflector for years in the USA, Europe and event down under, with no luck.

I have recently found a owner that is kind enough to me use his Genuine unit to reproduce one for me - however the glass fiber company I choose will only produce if they get 5 units in order to recoup labor and moulds.

Parts will be exactly like the original one, down the the rubber strip.

Price will be confirmed this week but the one quoted is (I reckon) attractive - I will post it here when possible, or PM me if in a rush. The producer is a renown, one-off automobiles, specialist.

The final product will be ready to install.

The 4 units can even be sent to the UK in one go for only £10 a pop if sent in one single go. Anywhere else in the World, please ask but only if seriously interested.

This is the part that will be used for the mould, 100% genuine.

Hey gang.

Just a few more infos :

The parts will be produce in FRANCE by the man who built this (see links belos) amongst other wild things (some parts are made of glass fibers as a matter of fact) :

Wait! Is this the Grand Nationa Roadster Show 2014's America's Most Beautifull Motorcycle winner. Yes sir.

He is kind enough to produce them for me even though it makes little business sense, as we are talking about a micro-serie.

I am not a manufacturer of any kind, I am only offering the part to roofrack owners, as THEY know how great this would be. I wish someone would have done this before!

Parts can be sent worldwide at cost, not a dime over. I may be able to bring a few to London, L.A. or Las Vegas, if several owners are in these areas.

The part is made of fiber glass, based on a genuine part. Rubber strip included.

LR did never offer this to the market. These were made by LRSV for the aftermarket rack produced by SD, before LR changed his partnership a couple of years later, this may explain why it was not produced.

Price : it all depends on the total amount produced as the big expense is in making the mould :

They will be as low as 90 euros/122 USD/73£ if there are more than 10 ordered.

I am planning on 5 or less, so more like 120E/160$/98£

Not cheap, but cheaper than what LR or Thule and similar would charge anyway.

Parts will not be painted. A spray can of LR Tangiers Orange is avoub 10/15 USD at the US dealer (ref : LR005716) and would cover the whole unit if you primer it in red/orange.

UK lads, here's for you :

Hi, Not that I know of.... however depending on where you are in the world there is a company in Scotland who have made them from aluminium in the past, Engine710 on Facebook.
One of our members (Chris Young I think) had his plastic one repaired by them to a very high standard, but it didn't come cheap...
