G4 Owners Club

To Be Or Not To Be

I have some thoughts on the Forum access and members / non members.

As the name implies it is the G4 Owners Club, and as such it is always going to be a fairly exclusive club, with if we just went on the current number of g4 vehicles a few hundred members.

However, do you want to be an exclusive or an inclusive club ?

I suspect the majority of the hits on the website are from people interested in G4 vehicles but for one reason or another may not actually own one.

I'm a prime example I desperately want to get a G4 vehicle - I have land rover blood in my veins - but I have to persuade SWMBO of the logic behind the purchase, and then find the right vehicle - not an easy task either of them.;)

I've now printed out the form and its winging its way in the post to the treasurer, but I think before you restict access to the forum from the outside world you should perhaps consider if that will help or hinder the club in the future

I'm looking for a vat qualifying righthand drive proper 110 G4 if someone has one at a sensible price.

I hope I've not upset anyone at the club with this post !!!

Regards

Paul

We will continue to offer a section of the forum accessible to visitors and non-members. Here they will be able to ask general questions and get a feel for the club but the decision to make the main areas of the forum accessible to paid-up members only was seen as crucial in adding value to the membership fee and to encourage a sense of community. It's not uncommon for this nowadays with many other clubs such as CTOC, DOC etc all operating in this fashion.

As you have said, G4's will always be relatively rare vehicles and so the potential audience and membership base is small. Consequently if we are to make membership worthwhile we have to ensure that those who stump up the cash perceive value for money. Much of what we offer now and will be adding to in future (newsletters, magazine etc) will be as applicable to non-vehicle owning fans and aspiring owners as they will to owners.

Good luck with the hunt, I've had mine a year now and still have a great huge grin every time I drive it. I've lost count of the amount of times I have been stopped at petrol stations (a frequent haunt with the V8!) or approached in the street with questions about the car and its history.
