Ladies and Gents, Appealing to all 2008 D3 owners....has anyone converted their Warn 9.5 winch to remore operation? I've bought the original Warn remote kit and the instructions are dire....but it appears the new controller plugs into the original controller via a multi pin plug...
However I've removed the rubber A frame, the front grill and numerous smaller components to gain access to the Warn controller mounted behind the front bumper immediately behind the winch but am unable to see any plug insert.....
Am I missing something or have I bought the wrong component? You help would be gratefully received...FC..

Ahhhh.... Had a frustrating day and just read this....even more frustrating..... You're right and I've found there is no other Jack socket on the front controller....so tested it by plugging the new remote controller into the original grill mounted socket to test the system works.... First issue was only getting red lights on the remote....after a trip then to Halfords to get a new pair of 23A batteries which were flat on the brand new kit.... Got it working by plugging in ....but obviously didn't want to drive around with three foot of cable and an ECU hanging off the front grill..
So I thought it can't be difficult just to splice the new remote ECU into the original switch and wiring.... Cut the plug off the new kit and got the soldering iron out... Bought a new 6 way electric plug for neatness as well...made up a lovely loom and spliced the new controller in....
Can now get the winch to work with the original plug in wich controller but only getting red lights when I try and use just the remote......aaaaaaarrrrggghhhhhhhh!
I had a similar issue initially previously .....for some reason only 5 pin wired winch triggers work...not 6 pin ones..... Checked the new remote ECU and there's six wires.....so one of those wires need cutting or splicing differently! Anyone here know the answer? Just given up and put it all back together...at least the winch still works on the original plug in lead trigger!
Help!!!...........

Just reread your post....are you saying it would work if the original trigger lead is inserted but not used? I must admit I didn't try that........

Oh no.....not as simple as that....plugged in the original controller and tried operating the wireless one....doesn't work! I've admitted defeat and in the morning it's going to Gigglepin for people far cleverer than me to sort out!
Oh well!

Right Guys and Girls.... Just got my car back from Gigglepin now with a working wireless remote!
I would never have solved this in a month of Sunday's without their help... The colour coding for Warn Winches is somewhat incredible ....how about this ....black is positive and red is negative...wtf! To help others who may wish to add a wireless remote to a D3 2008 these are the colour codes:
Remote cable. ---------------- Winch cable. Red. ..................................... White Brown. .................................. Brown Green. ..................................... Green Orange. .................................. Black Black. ....................................... Red/Orange White. ............................................ Unused.
This will assist you to splice the wireless remote into the original wiring for the Warn winch behind the front grill..... Good luck!
