Hello Ladies & Gents,

I acquired a 2003 G4 defender recently without knowing what it was. The previous owner had replaced the TD5 with a nissan 3.5 litre turbo - I know some will consider this a travesty but here in Kenya many consider it a plus as the electrics is ludicrously basic and european diesel engines apparently don't do so well out here.

I've been gradually fixing a few things on it, but one thing I haven't yet figured out is the wiring to the front lamps and the switch to turn them on doesn't look original. I've traced the wiring to a connector under the bonnet that looks like it needs a relay, but fitting a new one doesn't make them work either - any suggestions would be welcome.

Also the fuses under the radio do not bear any resemblance to the diagram on the inside cover - does anyone have a fuse diagram I could print out please?

Many thanks & best regards,

Not sure about the switch/relay but the fuse box is easy -

And I think they were wired up to only work, with full beam on.

Thanks very much - any idea what the original lamp switch looked like?

Someone went and removed two of the front lamps, the rear lamp and the dog cage unfortunately, do you know where the rear lamp switch was and what it looked like?

Another question while we're here please - where are the best jacking points for a high lift when changing a tyre in the field - I've used the front bumper successfully, but on the rear it was less obvious, no decent holes or edges immediately suggested themselves
