I am in the process of buying a Discovery G4 2005 model and am having a little trouble insuring the vehicle. Are there any owners out there who could recommend a good Comapny who know the vehicleas and will insure them?

Russ,

Have a word with Sureterm, they should be able to help you out.

Russ,

Try the NFU  they insure more Land Rovers than anybody . I have been with them 30yrs + and they offer a very good service   :)

Is that correct ?

Land rover did modify the vehicle, thus I would have thought unless you want an insurance company wriggling in event of a claim, I personnally would disclose as modified.

I recently did so through Sureterm - I sent a 2006 spec sheet off the website as the modifications.

Technically they are not modified as that is how Land Rover made them, but yes you must declare all the bits on them or you will have problems. I had great fun getting mine insured the first time, in the end I did a spec sheet listing all the additions, both internal and external, with exact part numbers and descriptions and also sent pictures off to them with front side and rear views.

Don't forget to include things like the stickers and event plaques as these are not cheap items to replace.

Hi Allan,

I'll second that, we haven't got any complaints with them.

Oh the insurance thread - the stalwart of every car club forum !!!!

I am with Admiral, mainly because I was with them with the D2. When I gave them the reg number of this one, the read it back as being 'orange, D3 HSE V8 G4 model', and proceeded to give me a refund on my premium over a mildly chipped D2  . I then advised them that it had some extras (rack, protection plate, winch, ladder, a bar, lights etc,) and that all except the roof lights were in the LR catalogue as dealer fit accessories, and they said 'OK no extra premium'. (didn't tell them about the stickers though :D )

It is insured for Green lanes as being legal ROW, but not off road play sites (or for that case farmers fields etc or campsites). I have tried NFU twice now, and our local franchisee isn't that bothered. I have heard better from DOC members for the guys in Wiltshire, Kent and Worcestershire franchise holders, so I will be trying them next year.

guys

insurance wise the mods and accessories are "factory fitted" and should not cost anything over and above a top end spec disco etc,

as for pay and play, i guess you will have to explain and haggle for the best price
