How to spoil a good holiday! Travelled to Italy with my G4 D3 and had an intermittent electrical problem where a variety of warning lights would illuminate sometimes with only a few gears available and with suspension lowering. If I shut off the car and let it totally shut down, the faults will clear and may not happen again for a while. AA European Breakdown had it taken to a garage in Italy (ended up at a Land Rover dealer who replaced a part on the compressor which was apparently faulty but just travelled back to France and had the problem again). Lights that illuminated are below...anyone had the same issue so I can save my pennies?!?

For anyone who searches this at some time in the future, I found some great ideas on the Disco 3 forum with the exact symptoms pointing me to replacing the Brake Switch under the brake peddal. Checked it out with local mechanic mates and they remembered doing a similar job so worth a try! Local LandRover dealer told me they have one in stock at about £25 and they will pop it in for nothing because it's a 10 min pull one out and stick one in job!!!😳 Heading to get it done tomorrow and hopefully it will do the job.

I had a similar problem after a winter in the garage. These are the parts you need to replace to solve the problem completely (I also keep a spare set):- #30 Fuse 10amp
- Brake lights
- Brake switch
- CAPACITOR ASSY - RADIO SUPPRESSION. NNW502820 (fits under the gearbox by the selector assembly)
This is due to a combination of signals that the ECUs get (there are 7 ECUs/computers connected via 2 fibre-optic LANs) when these parts fail it gets its knickers in a twist - to use very technical language.

If the stoplight switch doesn't sort the problem also check the the steering angle sensor. Had similar problems on a customers car a few years ago though I carn't remember if we replaced it or recalibrate do it.

Brakes with didn't do the job so taken advice and picked up the capacitor assy - radio suppression and a couple of new bulbs. I checked the transmission fuse and it is fine...is it worth replacing anyway? My problem now is finding where the capacitor goes! Can't find any pictures and the mechanics at my local main dealer couldn't even tell me a fitting cost because none of them had even heard of the part! Help!
