I have been driving a RRS dieosel for the last year or so and averaged 25+ to the gallon whilst driving it in town, down lanes etc...

I have only covered 100 miles since picking it up but I have driven it very carefully and not yet put my foot down at all and my average MPG is 16,\is this normal?

How many MPG should I expect drining it normally.

Hi Russ

Ok, not a D3, but Sport, get about 17-18 normal use, but only used as a second/weekend vehicle,, Got 19.7 overall on the recent trip for the London to Brighton run, and was hot hanging about on the trip back :w00t:

Over the last 2200 I have averaged 17.4 on the trip computer, but on spot fills I get about 23-24 on a run (65 ish, on cruise on the motorway) down to about 14 on the 3 mile journey to work. It is thirsty!

Hi,

Mine is averaging 16-17 mpg most of the time. Does drop on country roads and short distances. Most of my jornerys are short which doesn't help.

Cheers

Our old demo V8 D3 (I prey no one here ever has the misfortune of buying it, we didnt retail it, it was that abused!) would use £10 getting from Tring to Wooburn Green. I dont think it ever did more than an indicated 14mpg in the time we ran it.

That was a normal Disco with out the rack or any other bits.

Thanks to everyone and oh shit, I never thought it would be this uneconomical..... Has anybody tried having it chipped to help the performance? I had my RRS done and it improved the perfomance quite a bit and I averaged 4-5 mpg more,\which I thought wasn't bad for  £500.

That's why I bought a defender!

You can't get it chipped as such, that is mainly a turbodiesel thing - best bet is to get it converted to LPG, but you are looking at about £2k.

try using shell v-power when you fuel up i get an average 30 - 35 extra miles to a tank full over ordinary un leaded
