Well we was a 2xG2 family for little less than 24 hours.
We picked up BT52 CNV and less 35 miles down the M42/40 it was Christmas tree lights time engine failsafe mode was activated and a total loss of power and the V8 fell silent so car was recovered back to our home ........ this morning we recovered the RR back to the seller who gave a full refund and or Px car"4motion Golf" back ........So the hunt will go on for G4 or D3/4 or Range rover

That's not good. Maybe that's the reason why it was traded in.

A good diagnostics tool would hopefully identify the problem which inevitably would be expensive. It is now one to avoid or go in knowing the problems and offering around £7k-8k telling the dealer of the known problems and that he will never shift it, especially as it is a specialist vehicle where most potential buyers contact the club first.

Was there no warranty with this vehicle ?
|
By markbrizeG4 - 31 Dec 2015
3 months but as he was hiding the fact there was problems with the car and he asked not to start talking about trading standards and he knew Jude works for Thames Valley Police and he offered a full refund straight away

You didn't want to get them to fix it under warranty ?
|

Would need a new engine after it's been run on lpg for that many miles. The petrol v8 engine is quite bullit proof, I would of said it wouldn't be cheap to sort it out. Bits for that 4.4 bmw engine are not cheap.

No didnt feel right to wait for a fix something was not quit right ....i had a odd feeling also no loan car was available Njpaice (1/1/2016) You didn't want to get them to fix it under warranty ?

The seller would have known the problems already existed I'm 99.9% sure of this, his warranty is worth nothing and only covered up to 1,000 for the first 3 months from memory. Within 2 days of the car being returned he's upped the price by 2k, after the experience I wouldn't trust him with a matchbox car let alone a G4 and I'm normally a good judge of character! All I can suggest if you're really interested in it either take a diagnostics mach if you've got one or book an AA or RAC inspection.

Interesting you should say that Mark !!!! As I heard that they ran better on LPG, Or should I say it's less harmful to the Nikasil liners than Petrol. On a Rover V8 I'd agree.

No lpg runs hotter and has no librication. I think Je engineering created a system that had a device that added a type of oil to the engine so it lubricated the valves.

You can't win can you !!!!
Petrol has sulphur in it which attacks the liners. LPG is better for the liners, but no good for the valves...... :ermm:

Hi Chaps, for information, and if anyone needs any info, I have the JE Engineering Autolube and Twin LPG kit on my AJV8 -now done 130000 miles without touching the LPG system . Uses no oil, no puffs of smoke on start, and starts on the button every time but twice in 7 years -both times the battery died. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend JE . I have used it seriously on and off road as far as Ukraine and Romania and above 6500 ft in carpathian and Pyrenees . However I may be about to sell Gina for the LHD equivalent or similar as spending more time across the water these days.

Hi Sweaty, do you still come to France and Europe with the beast? Will you sell it for a LHD then?
now about CNV, did anyone else visit the dealer to check on it? is it still waiting in a hangar somewhere dying slowly or being fixed once and for all?

They won't move on price and have said all the problems were due to poor running and poorly serviced LPG system. I have it on good authority that this one will need a lot of investment and I would budget for a new engine. I'll be open and say I offered sub-£10,000 which was rejected out of hand, even though it has been on sale since early December.

HI I can back up Stu's comments. I have personally spoken to someone who has first hand experience on the vehicle and knows a lot of its history. His view is that the LPG system has not been maintained for a long long time ( or any of the vehicle!) and its current value is in the region of £7-9k. Barry BV55ZBY 2006 Defender BV55YYX 2006 FFRR
