What diagnostic tool?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking at buying a diagnostic tool for fault diagnostics and fault code clearing.
At the moment I'm looking at an iCarsoft LR2 but have read that it can't reset air compressor faults.
What tools do you use or would recommend?

I can only go what been used on D2's but I have a Hawkeye (from Bearmach) its simple to use and now its on V7 D2 softwhere it does SLS too. The nanocoms are equilly as good but I think they aren't as robust and a bit more complicated to use. Both are about the same price. I know the back up from BBS (makers of nanocom) is very good from the comments from other on the D2BC. I've only had to use Bearmach once for my Hawkeye and that was only to update it but the service was top notch  Both brands need aditional unlock codes for seperate models tho i.e my Hawkeye will only D2's but will do V8 & TD5 Nanocom with TD5 unlock code will only do TD5 you would need an extra code for V8's. Thats where it can get expensive.

I have one of these little Bluetooth devices..

Its very cheap at £4.99 and if you just trying to see what the fault is and clear it its the best thing since sliced bread!
Its got me out of a hole a few times with Air Suspension faults, normally a quick stop and restart of the engine does the trick with the rangie but when she is tired and just woken up from a flat battery the faults tend to stick in the ECU for a while.
This is also good for monitoring the engine and temperatures live with the app.

I have a blackbox MSV-2 not cheap and programmed for individual car but will do everything. The most raved about product on both RRSport and D3 website's are the GAP tools again not cheap but believe they do a more basic tool. It depends what you want it for. As messiness above Hawkeyes not bad but have had a few upgrades done now on v7 which should do more but seems to do less than when we got it about 4/5 years ago which was v3/4 I think..

Ouch, the blackbox is about 4 times what I was planning to spend!
By the look of it all of the bluetooth devices run on an android device, I'm all about ios.
I think I'll look more into the Hawkeye, depends if it'll work on my V8 without expensive software upgrades.

Thanks for the reply's guys, keep the suggestions coming.

Not cheap - but it is the best thing since they invented Land Rover ECU's

Thanks Keith, I've just been looking at the bluetooth one after camelrock suggested it.
Think it might be worth the extra dosh for the IIDTool BT.

BT IID Tool is the way to go, I know of people with the Pro Version (ie not VIN locked) who have been asks to visit dealers to fix issue that the dealers auto-logic can't fix!

I've had a multi-VIN MSV2 and now have a IID Pro (so can use it on any relevant Land Rover)......the IID and its functionality beats the MSV2 hands down :-)

The best place - if you want a used one is http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/fs-parts-vf85.html
where mine came from. The Icarsoft is good but IID - much better.
