As a recent new owner of a 2003 Disco II G4 event vehicle, I had to join in on the forum. I look forward to the dialogue and learning of the history of my vehicle. Regards, Dan

Hi, and welcome to the Club.I am sure we will be able to help with information - do you know the original vehicle registration number or could you tell us the VIN ? Looking forward to hearing news from your side of the "pond"

Mornin' Mole,I am waiting for feedback from Land Rover North America regarding the capacity in which the vehicle was used in the G4 event. I purchased the vehicle in Utah which was the state for the final leg of the inaugural G4 event. The last 6 digits of the VIN are 780549. I am pretty sure she was an actual event vehicle as the roof of the rig was not stamped with the mounting holes for the standard roof rails nor was the mounting hole stamped for the GPS receiver in the Becker head unit (the wire actually runs along the roof rack). Other clues include the rivets where the "G4 Challenge" sign was mounted to the roof rack and the noticeable removal of the screws holding the front fenders in place. I believe the fenders were swapped out to make the vehicle "legal" for use. This would have included the removal of the snorkel as well as the front lamp guards (already purchased and ready to be put back on). Thanks for looking into this for me. Got to get back to shoveling all this white stuff. Regards, Dan

I did some checking here in the US on your car. It was shipped into Lanham Port which is near the old HQ. There is no date for that then the dates start in Feb 04 at PACIFIC reconditioners. To my mind this indicates a shipping into the US East coast for G4 event and then Recon (wings and snorkel) in West coast processing. at this point the car gets into LRNA system. This sort of makes sense as G4 vehicles are not owned by markets they are "owned" by a leasing company subsidiary. Only when the car has been checked will they technically be LRNA's to be sold. Another interesting note is the previous owner was named Olsen!HTH Pete

Pete,Thanks for the follow up. I noticed the name and thought the same thing as you. Only difference is the spelling of the last name (Olsen vs. Olson). The car was manufactured in July of 2002 and sold to the dealer around September of 2004. I wonder if it was utilized on the Auto Show circuit in 2003? Any idea who I can reach out for within LRNA to determine how the car was utilized in the past? Thanks in advance. Regards, Dan

Dan,LRNA told me mine was used for support and exhibition. Once I became a full member of the G4 Owners Club I found out mine was Fleet #79 used by the film crew here on the US legs and sold to LRNA on the 09/02/04 and I purchased it on 10/26/04.

Terry,I saw pictures of your vehicle on the web and mine looks very similar to yours. Can you tell me if you have rivets in your roof rack in between the two inside Warn lights where the G4 Challenge sign would have been placed? Is your vehicle an HSE model with the Becker Navigation unit? Also, who do you talk to in order to join the club? I clicked on the "join" button and the response received was they are not accepting new members. Thanks in advance. Regards, Dan

Hi Dan,The club will be accepting new members again after the election has been completed, we are also voting for a new Membership Secretary, voting ends on the 5th March, hopefully Peter Jarrett (webmaster) will be able to open the forum again for people to join up as paid members. It will be great to have you on board. ;) DannyBalls (2/29/2008)

[/quote] LRNA will not know what the vehicle did on event as the event is run out of the UK. All the records are in the UK and you'll find the club has access to them. If LRNA used the vehicle later for PR then they will have a record of that. Thats why they didn't know that the other car was an press/photo car. Hope that helps - not much I know. Pete

Pete,You the man. Now who do I pay to tell me my car's history? Do I really have to wait 2 to 3 months until the elections are completed? Can I throw someone a sawbuck or two for a sneak peek into my cars history :) ? Dan
