Hi all,

Just like to share some of the key highlights at Gaydon, particularly for those that did not had a chance to participate.

We had lots of positive feedback from public, event organisers, etc.

We had a great display both at the club stand and also at the features, with over 20 club members attending. Allan T and his team made a great job putting all bits together and showing a significant improvement from previous shows. Big thanks to Adrian, Andy & Liz, Dave & Mark!

We also need to remember that this was only possible given some important donations made by club members (Jim Carr, Allan T and others) to fund equipment such as the power generator, stand structure and other items. The club needs contribution to all of us, so I would encourage all to liaise with Allan T should you have any item that you think you can lend/ donate to the club, particularly memorabilia and clothing!

Also a big thank you to Brian Reynolds and his wife for being so nice and open to club members, particularly Brian's speech on his experience at the G4! Kim also did a great job liaising with Brian and raising interest from members of the public to the club ( and even found a buyer for CBale's Disco!).

Mr. Alan Edwards always busy, still managed to squeeze some time to help as well!

Glen and his friend Phil came all the way from Norwegian to cook the famous moose and new club member Simon also came from Germany to collect his new D3 G4, welcome all!

Finally, all those that participated in the Interclub Challenge, again put on their orange hats to face others teams. Even with only half of the team size on Sunday, we managed to win the "Team Spirit Award" given by the marshalls on site given our efforts to complete the tasks and enthusiasm! Hey Brian, you will be proud of that, hein?! We were awarded a case of Stella, which I kept one for the records of the club and the remainder was easily consumed by the team!

Bring it on G4OC, the season has resumed and we are off to a good start!

Chris and I spent the whole of Saturday manning the features stand and drummed up a lot of interest from the members of public, I managed to stop another owner of a G4 vehicle (the reg was AMY ....) who was in the Heritage run and advised them to stop by and pick up a membership form, they seemed very keen to join us.

Chris and I went to visit the major LR magazine stands on Sunday and have managed to 'build some bridges' with them and have drummed up interest in them publishing items about our club.... so if you have anything of interest, please do let Chris know. :D

As Augusto mentioned, I 'hijacked' a member of the Freelander club and convinced him that ORANGE is the way forward.... and it has certainly paid off as he will also be joining our club as well as buying Chris Bale's D2. :D

Chris has some more photos to process and put up....... ;)

Thanks to Allan and the Event team and all the members who were able to attend and support the club. Also thanks to Kim for manning the Exhibition since the Event team were stretched with the club stand, so this makes Kim part of the Event Team I guess:D

Some snaps:

Saturday, setup finally complete and a quick pose..

Who is that posing ?

You know who of course..it's our Brian with Andy. He alos wants Andy's
Freelander, so keep it polished Andy!

Some familiar faces..(congratulations by the way!)

Great pics Adrian, the bike on the ramp was great!! The display with bike, tents and the kayak really brought a bit of the real Challenge to the show!

Well done;)

Hi All,

It was a pleasure to see you all at Gaydon and the club was looking strong, especially as there were 2 stands to be covered at opposite ends of the site!  The Team Spirit Award for the inter-club challenge is particularly fitting with Tim Pickering and me, as we all have the 'never give up' and 'enjoy the adventure' spirit!

Thanks to everyone who was 'promoting' the sale of my Disco2, hopefully there are enought fliers left over to hand some out at Driffield this weekend too!  It's a shame BD52CSO has to go, but the cash flow for the building works at home need to take priority for putting a roof over the family's head!

I've got some photo's of Alan's (i think it was Alan, who was feeling ill?) Defender in Morocco too - so if someone can let me know his Forum name or his e-mail i will send them to him. (it was BN55WRP)

Cheers, see you all at Gaydon!

Brian.

Kim/  Brian

Think there was some confusion here.

Brian posted "I've got some photo's of Alan's (i think it was Alan, who was feeling ill?) Defender in Morocco too - so if someone can let me know his Forum name or his e-mail i will send them to him. (it was BN55WRP)"

The reg for Simon is BN55 WPR (D3), not WRP, but we thought it could be Andy's as he had some info that his car was the only Defender in  Morroco. Given that Andy reg  is BV55ZBX, it doesn't look  to be the same car.

BN55 WRP is an ambulance Defender, not sure if from anyone in the club at the moment

By brianreynolds - 13 May 2008

OK, well i think that's all sorted then - to summarise:

I am pretty sure there was only 1 G4 Defender in Morocco on the Freelander2 launch (that i saw anyway) and it was BN55WRP - as in the photo below - so sorry Alan i've confirmed it wasn't yours - not what you wanted to hear probably!  We used it purely for the Doctor on duty to follow the convoy around and be at specific points on the route in case of emergency.  It didn't do a massive amount of off-road (there were ways round the routes sticking to tarmac) and the doctros seemed scared to off-road.

As for why Alan's Defender went to Morocco i just don't know?  The evidence suggests that it did (dust ingress and the coin he found) but there might have been some other trips that weren't the Freelander2 launch?  There was a dealer prize trip into the Atlas mountains, but that used the G4 vehicles that we had on the Freelander2 launch - so i doubt it was that!

If anyone else suspects there D3 or RRS from the 06 event went to Morocco i can have a little look at my shots from the Freelander2 launch.  I know that i drove BN55WPL as a chase vehicle (and i've got some nice shots) but i think a German colleague cooked the engine on that across the beach!  I also drove Disco 3 BN55WPP and Rangie BN55YYR, but there were more too... I'll have to compile a little list and post it on the forum soon...

Brian.

Thanks Brian,  that also match the record we have as BN55WPR as an ambulance car.

Also I think the  D3 you  mentioned (BN55 WRP) was for sale  on James  French and  the last 2 cars dont know if owned by any club members.

I think I found some info on BN55 ZBX - Andy's (Mole) car. It went indeed on loan to the UK Morroco event with Sam Adams. Andy you might want to ask Alan Edwards on more details on that.

Cheers
