I just joind the club after buying and ex-2009 challenge vehicle BL57 TWY. It was 'as new' with only 2,400 (ish) miles on the clock! The wife thought it was red until I got home... Boy was she shocked ;-)
Any how she's warming to it after only two days, and I think it's a hoot!
Anybody else bought an ex-2009 challenge vehicle?
Cheers,

Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you'll have hours of pleasure in her/him.
Maybe you will consider joining our club and coming along to one of the LR shows.
Which area are you from?

Well done on buying a G4 :D Did you get a boot full of goodies, like 2x jerry cans, 2x water cans, winch cover, winch rope, first aid kit, shovel, and 3 spare wheels ? You should have got it if you got it through a dealer.
Cheers
Lewis
Yes I did get a boot full of goodies, but not exactly the same as yours. I got 1x jerry can, 2x water cans, winch cover, winch rope, winch remote, first aid kit, cargo net, and 3 spare wheels!
I set out in January 2009 to get one by approaching LR G4 publicity office direct to ask how they were going to dispose of the vehicles seeing as the challenge was cancelled. They put me in touch with LR 'used' sales who told me that they were being auctioned in Bristol at a 'closed' main dealer only sale. I contacted my local LR dealer (Stratstone, Newcastle-upon-Tyne) and made a proposal that if they bought me a G4 LR3 at an agreed maximum price I would gaurentee them a fixed finders fee!
Well they didn't come back to me even after several follow up phone calls!
So I contacted LR 'used' sales and asked if they could reccomend a dealer, they suggested Duckworth LR in Market Rasen. So I phoned them and spoke with Ben Duckworth who was so helpful I fell off my chair!!!
We agreed a maximum price, and he went to the first auction where aroiund 15 ex-2009 G4 Challenge vehicles were being auctioned off (there were around 60 to be sold, a mixture of RR Sports and LR3's over the comming months).
The first auction was a bummer as they were too expensive, but a month later BINGO!
Anyhow, on Wednesday 18 March I go the beast!
I can't praise Ben and the Duckworth team highly enough, I also think I cut their profit so thin I owe them some money :D
I can't wait to try it out over the coming months...
according to the on board computer I'm getting 22.6 MPG. I was considering removing the large G4 Challenge plate off the roof rack (I have the ability to make it detachable) and replacing it with a vinyl G4 Sticker. I would of course keep the original one for rallys, but it may improve the MPG somewhat?
Yes, I must confess I fell asleep at the wheel... luckily the car wasn't moving at the time!
If the Wife must shop then I need a comfortable place to sleep!
well done on your purchase, you will find ben at duckworths very very helpful and offer discounts on both servicing and parts as well as free advice to owners
