Group: Forum Member Posts: 72, Visits: 809	Hi all, After owning Oscar for a few weeks I have a few questions that I hope members of the club might be able to help me with. Oscar is a 55 plate 110 that was used as a media shuttle in Loas. 1. I intend to fit a cb at some point. Now there is already what whould appear to be an aerial lead which runs from behind the cubby box to the plate which holds the G4 plaque on the roofrack at the front of the truck. At the cubby box end the lead looks like an aerial connection but at the other end whatever it finished at has been removed and the connector is held in place by a bolt at the bottom. The is also what would appear to be a wiring connector for an electronic device - CB or radio of some type. The question is do you think I would be able to attach a cb aerial to the end of the lead at the roof rack point, and the removing the connector on the electric wires at the cubby boix end and if they are powered use them to power a cb? Has anyone looked into or actually have this set up in place? 2. The dog guard and one side of racking from the rear has been removed but I still have them. I don't have the fittings though. Assumed that asking Mantec for a fitting pack would be the best was to get them back in? 3. I am keen to get a three point seat belt fitted to the middle seat of the back row. Does anyone know if this canbe achieved without replacing the three seats? If so can anyone offer any guidence on how to do that. If not any suggestions on recomendations for places to sort new seats would be great. 4. Fitted below the engine on mine, but also below the engine and gearbox on other 110's I have seen is what loks like a plastic guard. Has anyone ever considered replacing these with more robust bash plates in Aluminium or steel or are there any off the shelf touher versions available on the market? Sorry to ask so many questions but if anyone has any thoughts we'd be delighted to hear them. Group: Forum Member Posts: 264, Visits: 2.9K	Hi Rich, Here's some answers for you... 1 - CB. Trace the wiring through and if everything works out, I'd use the existing wiring. The original kit fitted would have been a VHF rig but the wiring itself will be fine for CB. Just make sure that the antenna you fit on the rack is properly tuned. 2 - Racking. Yep, give Mantec a shout. ;) 3 - 3 point belts. Unless you change the seats, you'll not get a 3 point belt in there. 4 - I can't visualise the guard you're talking about but I suspect it's more of a mud shield/splash guard rather than taking any impact. Group: G4 Member Posts: 890, Visits: 3.6K	Rich If you are missing the fittings for the dog guard, they are LR parts and can be ordered at your local dealer. Mantec does the shelves for the Defender. E Group: G4 Member Posts: 589, Visits: 3.6K	Rich, As Mark says the radio that was in the there was a VHF set. To use a CB you will need to cut off the connector/mount on the rack end and fit a CB type connector instead. I did this on mine and had lots of problems as water had gotten inside the wire, I couldn't get my SWR down to anything sensible at all! In the end I had to pull a new lead through by connecting it the existing one. Mark S. a Group: G4 Member Posts: 1.2K, Visits: 6.8K	Hi Rich, 1. The CB aerial can be connected to the wire to the rack but as Mark says check for water ingress and also fit a new earted CB aerial mount. 2. The dog guard and one side of racking from the rear has been removed but I still have them. I don't have the fittings though. The dog guard is a LR part and the bins / side boxes are Mantec. The bins were held in by black 4mm rivets. 3. I am keen to get a three point seat belt fitted to the middle seat of the back row. If not any suggestions on recomendations for places to sort new seats would be great. Trakkers may be the best place to ask. There is no structure to support the 3 point seat belts in these vehicles. 4. Fitted below the engine on mine, but also below the engine and gearbox on other 110's I have seen is what loks like a plastic guard. Has anyone ever considered replacing these with more robust bash plates in Aluminium or steel or are there any off the shelf touher versions available on the market? The guard is indeed plastic and falls off when used off road. I do not know of any after market guards currently available to replace this.
