Extremely late, but I thought I would throw it up on the board.
2 guys who went to my school (several years after me!) have taken up being adventurous as a career to avoid real work. They were the youngest Brits to Climb Everest a couple of years ago, and are currently nearly finished on a Pole to Pole challenge, travelling by natural means (ie wind power, cycling etc) The actual poles are the magnetic north and south, so not too extreme.
Their website is www.180degrees.com and they are somewhere in the southern ocean on their last leg, but checking out the sponsors it appears they have an ex G4 defender provided by LR as their support vehicle as they cycled the length of the americas!
Wonder where it is going now?
BTW, have some interest in their challenge, but none in their fundraising, they have actually struggled to get enough money together to finish. Craig Steger-Lewis
2006 D3 Thailand Media Vehicle Stages 1 & 2
2004 D2 Landmark Auto (much missed already!)
The guys finished there trek and their trip to the magnetic south pole, and got a lot of recognition for it.
However as many of you may have heard, one was tragically killed in the Alps last week - Rob Gauntlett did more in his life than many of us will even attempt. The other guy who died with him was the expedition leader at home, who ran their back office and communications...
Last week was very sad amongst the old school community Craig Steger-Lewis
