A while back I bought a warn wireless winch kit. This it the kit I bought.

Although it plugs into the socket, it does not appear to work. After almost 2 years I decided to see if I could get it working. After looking at wiring diagrams and reading the whole internet 😂, it seems that the warn 9.5xp installed by LR is wired in a specific way to only work with a specific remote plugged in. This works by bridging pins 5&6 (white and blue) internally in the remote.
So to get the remote working all I had to do was jumper these two wires together. My intention is to fit a switch in the cabin to enable the remote and leave the remote receiver permanently under the hood behind the grill. I’ll leave the original socket available for the original remote as backup.
Btw. Warn has since released a Bluetooth phone option which just is annoying as I’d probably go with that now.
