Group: Forum Member Posts: 13, Visits: 42	Just about to take delivery of the German team's 2009 Challenge Discovery - already nicknamed by the kids as Ugly Betty the Ginger Fun Bus - and wonder if anyone can recommend a good and cost effective insurance broker for a car with so many modifications that appear to be putting off the usual cut-price insurance people such as Elephant. Land Rover's price is GBP671.00

E Group: G4 Member Posts: 589, Visits: 3.6K	Congratulations on your choice of car :cool: Technically it has not been modified as it was built like that by Land Rover :w00t: however persuading insurance companies of that is not easy. I personally use Adrian Flux who have been very good, IIRC mine is approx £400 a year, but that is for a car that is registered in my company name and is used for business, has a guaranteed value and green lane cover. They give a discount for club members, as do Sureterm. One thing I would recommend when sending back the signed policy is providing a complete description of the car with part names etc. as well as pictures that way they can't wriggle out of it. HTH. As far as they're concerned, all the accessories are 'standard fitment' for a Landy. :cool: However, like Mars says, it's probably worth listing all the accessories fitted. Group: Forum Member Posts: 72, Visits: 809	I'll put my thumbs up for NFU too, we thought it would be easy to get insurance, but we even found it difficult to get a quote for our G4 110. Tesco's refused to quote because they didn't have a box on their system to enter any modifications, and some of the 'land rover' specialists in the magazines also said they couldn't because of the mods. Direct Line in fairness at least quotd but only the NFU said yes without a problem. We nearly posted the same question on here, but by the time we realised there may be a problem we were already on the way to colect Oscar! Good Luck Rich and family Strangely enough Tesco were happy with mine, my previous Disco was with them and when I bought the G4 I phoned them up and swapped the insurance with no problem. They couldn't compete at renewal time though. The funniest one of the LR specialists in the mags was the one who used a G4 Disco in their advertising, when I called them they had no idea what I was talking about, even when I told to look at their own advert :crazy: Mark S. Group: G4 Member Posts: 63, Visits: 448	Guys, When I bought my 2009 G4 Disco I was offered 1 weeks free insurance from Land Rover Insurance(they faxed through a cover note so I could get it taxed and drive away from the dealer within a half an hour too). I had a quote from MORE THAN who originally insured my Disco 2 which was £480... LR Insurance charged me £370 fully comp and protected (£450 compulsory excess though...). Guess who got my business! We've just insured our 08 D3, and had the same tooing and froing. Sureteam wouldn't quote at all, LR quoted £580, various run of the mill insurers came back aound the £300 mark. In the end off advice from the forum, we ended up with Adrian Flux. £510 for business use and off road cover. We also took advantage of the LR 7 day free cover, why not hey. I tried to get agreed value insurance, but as she is still so new they wouldn't allow me to. 5-10 years and it might be possible. They seemed to understand what the G4 vehicles were about and did not need photos, but asked for a general list of modifications. We eventually decided to get gap insurance too. The dealer had tried to sell us cover, but we declined and looked into it our selves. Saved £100 or so. What are your opinions of gap insurance??
