Hi all,
I have found a G4 Edition RR Sport I quite fancy, it is a 55-reg (2006 Challenge) model so is a 4.4 V8 engined model. It was never actually used on the Challenge, was just a support vehicle, but has all the kit which makes it ideal for a trip to Morocco I am going on later this year.
I do have a couple of questions:
1. LPG conversion - I would definitely be looking at fitting an LPG kit to the vehicle, but am getting mixed reviews/opinions on this. I know the 4.2 S/C models do not last well on LPG, but some say the 4.4 V8 is ideally suited whilst others say it is not. Would getting an LPG conversion with a Flashlube kit be OK in terms of engine longetivity?
Does anyone here run their 4.4 V8 on LPG and have they had issues directly related?
2. Cruise control - as it is fitted with Adaptive Cruise Control which requires the front parking sensors, but it also has a winch on the front which removes the centre two sensors, the cruise contol does not work. Would it be possible to get this to work by refitting the front sensors somewhere else whilst still keeping the winch? If not, is it possible to get 'non-adaptive' cruise control working on the car?
Lastly, anything else I should look at either specific to the G4 vehicles, 4.4 V8's or RR Sports in general?
Cheers!
Mike

AFAIK the ACC does not use the parking sensors.
The parking sensors are most likely removed as:-
The winch mount fits where the sensors would normally be fitted.
No one bothered to drill the winch mount to refit them

Ok so the owner took the G4 RRS into the LR dealer today and it seems the ACC control module is there but the radar bit is not, apparently because the winch interferes with the mounting bracket.
The dealer is going to see if the cruise control can be activated without the active part, not sure if this will work or not?
If not a radar sensor is around £40-£50 from a breakers yard I'm told? The control module is the expensive bit and that is present.
The current owner was charged £170 for this and understandably is not willing to spend any more on this, which I can understand having owned the car happily without it working for the past 6 years!
So, what do u reckon guys - should getting a £50 sensor sort this out or could it work as standard cruise control without the active element? Obviously I'd prefer the active bit to work ideally!!
Cheers!
