Cripes - i go away for 24 hours and we get one of the longest threads in a quick time :D
Mistake on my part I'm afraid - I was re-setting security on Monday night to create a new group for Event participants (so it's more obvious who they are!) and the setting to make the For Sale (and website suggestion box for that matter) didn't stick.
I've now re-set it so it should be visible to all.
Obviously let me know if I've missed something else though!

And I'll see after a year if the membership is interesting enough to keep or if I can spend the money better on a couple litres of fuel and play a few hour off-road.
If I can convince my family to join me going to the UK and come to a show in the UK I will do that and then yes membership starts to be interesting.
When searching for the commitee board I found another thread with discussion about paying for forum acces. I can see both sides having a point.
Like I said before I will become a member and see if membership is benifitial.

To take the boot for every event is not an option for most off the people.
So after the first year what is it more than pay for acces to the closed part off the forum?
I can't find that at the website.
Roel,, Well best is to joint for a year, and then hopefully you will see the extra benefits after the 12 months, and then rejoin :) Regards Tim

There was an older post under the Committee Notice Board (at the top) with a table of benefits once we restructured the membership benefits.

The travel club is one of the benefits: We have lined up a trip to Morrocos and other trips to the Continent are being discussed.
We will also look into attending events in the Continent and just released a new policy for small events that will encourage members to participate in shows and other events with some support of the club, like a show that Gert, Kim, Chris and Andy participated last year in Holland.
Access to knowledge about faults, other technical bits that will happen as the cars get older, etc...and there is more to come for sure.
Discount on Insurance, club exclusive newsletter (coming soon).
But more importantly is about belonging to a nice group of enthusiasts and sharing the common interests.
It is in opportunities like we had in the first club outing to the Lakes District, that one realises how nice it is to have a weekend relaxed and talking orange matters with friends around a fire on a campsite.
Up to each of us to put a value to it ;) Augusto (The O.C.)Secretary - G4 Challenge Owners Club D3 2006 event BN55 WRG LRG4C11 Stages 3 & 4 Bolivia

Think Paul has it correct, as per his post above,,
The membership fees need to represent as best valve for money as possible,, and if/when items for sale do come up, surely members should have first option ;)
Let face it, the fees are not exactly a vast sum !! only 4 gallon of fuel !! Regards Tim
We are always torn between trying to provide an interesting & informative website as much as possible for free, and making membership a worthwhile investment for those that do join.
It does cost the club money to run the website which has to be paid for somehow, we do not have any trade adverts or annoying links, so sadly it has to be via a membership subscription.
To try and provide a value for money offering to those that do join & support the club and its website we have to have a more extensive members only area.
Full members therefore do as a result have access to original G4 merchandise and parts on the for sale board together with access to replacement stickers and general G4OC merchandise, together with access to vehicle details & specification & pictures, technical help & assistance, opportunities via land over, not forgeting being part of a great club.
