Group: Forum Member Posts: 38, Visits: 548	HI All Im after some help and advice. Im looking at changing the tyres on my 130 from the 7.50 R16 G90's that are on there to 235/85 R16 MT/R's. The first question is what are they like on the road ie handerling and noise? 2nd thing what sort of price should i expect to pay and are they readerly available? Group: G4 Member Posts: 175, Visits: 7K	Hi, I've got Goodyears on my 110. I havent notice any real increase in road noise at 60mph than normal road tyres. Anything over 60 and it will start to get a bit louder. You will use a bit more fuel though. As for handling, I havent noticed anything out of the ordinary, but I have been running my previous Land Rovers on MTR's for about 3 years. I should think there isnt much of a difference to the G90's you're running at the moment. I tried to purchase these from James French but apparently they are unable to get hold of these tyres any more. I purchased 5 Wrangler 325/85R16's for £550 from ebay, unfortunately I think the stockist I got them from has run out. There is a set of four tyres on ebay for £500, I think they are on delivery miles only, I cant send the link unfortunately as I cant get ebay at work. Group: G4 Member Posts: 293, Visits: 1.5K	We use the G90s on our wolfs at work, I find them to be fairly quiet on road as above but get them over 60 mph and you do get a hum from them. This is pretty much similar to the MTR too, although the latter are slightly quieter and something that comes with running a mud tyre. Off road and into the mud the tyres fair as good as each other in my opinion to. I have just bought the MTR for my defender and also ran them on my previous disco and found them to cope very well in mud and snow. I have used the wolfs all over the world fitted with the G90 in lots of different environments and have always been impressed by their capability. If there's any real difference between the two I'd say the G90 is the more aggressive tyre with wider spaced tread blocks which add to them being noisier! It's all down to personal choice between the two I think and what you want them for. Maybe it's down to load rating for your vehicle too? Not too hot on load ratings but I believe the G90 may have a higher rating which is why the MTR wasn't on the 130s? And with the weights we sometimes put in our work rovers that's probably why we use them and not the MTR as an all rounder. Group: G4 Member Posts: 293, Visits: 1.5K	Forgot to add that I know somewhere you can get the MTR for a hundred pound a tyre which is about 30 to 60 quid cheaper than most tyre outlets. Send me a PM and I'll give you their number. Ref on road handling I find the MTR to behave very well, I've not had any dramas in them wet/dry or in snow. Both tyres are the same in this respect. I've nothing technical to say about them only can offer what my experiences of both these tyres are. Hope this helps. a Group: G4 Member Posts: 1.2K, Visits: 6.8K	The G90 has a higher load rating than the MTR. The 130 also needs to be run on steel wheels too due to load rating. The Boost alloys as fitted to 110's are not high enough load capacity to meet that of the 130. This is why LR fitted them to the 130's. Group: Past Forum Member Posts: 69, Visits: 766	Morning Neil To my 130 I’ve fitted the Italian Blindo Alloy wheel as used by the British Army and a set of 285/75/16 BF Goodrich KM2 tyre. This superb tyre has a 10 ply tread and a 3 ply sidewall. It is expected to give over 30,000 miles. The unique tread is extremely quiet and well behaved on the road. It also offers fantastic off road ability. Combined with the high strength Blindo alloy, as a bonus- It also looks superb! Johnny A. What are people's views / experience of these when fitted to D3 (255x55 r19) - I've heard various reports that despite being marked MT/R they're not particularly good in mud, and are not up to much on wet roads. Also, they seem to be in short supply just now - I've spoken to a few local dealers who used to be able to get them but can't get them from their suppliers just now. One of them also suggested they're being discontinued, with Goodyear intending to bring out a replacement by summer. Anybody got any informtaion about that? I've got Goodyear Wrangler HPs just now, but needing something to give a bit more grip in the mud.....also, would like to restore vehicle to original spec, and they look the part!
