Just wondering really, but I guess there's a fairly limited market for bright orange cars!
Has anyone on here struggled to sell their G4 previously? There's an RR Sport G4 for sale at Foley's for £21,500, has been advertised for ages and not sold. As I'm in the midst of buying one, I am concerned I may not be able to sell it again when the time comes!
Thoughts, please?

They seem to sell ok, well as quick as any other land rover, but the rrs seem to take longer, the last one a tdv8 rrs went to two independent dealers and a main dealer in lancashire and was reduced by £14k from its starting price. Sometimes i think people are put off by the fuel in a petrol v8, but that was a tdv8. The previous g4 rrs at foleys was lhd and they had that a while until i heard it got stolen.

You'll sell any of them at the right price, the problem with the dealers is as mentioned, they seem to price them above the market just because it's a G4 car. They don't have the cache of say the Camel Trophy vehicles, but hey, I'm happy with mine and it has the gear I wanted.
I'll say this on the Foley's vehicle and I'm not knocking it, just saying this as a comparison. I bought my RRS 3 years ago from a main LR dealer, complete with full LR warranty, an LPG conversion and only 20k miles on the clock. I paid £22800 for it. You pays your money and takes your choice.

Miks S - that sounds really cheap, yours was a bargain!
Like you guys, I want one mostly for the equipment they come with but just concerned there is not much of a market for them I guess.
Thanks for the feedback!

Always a tough call...
The residual values on a G4 are potentially higher but the market is much smaller. For you to be able to realise that 'potential' extra value, you may well have to wait longer for the right buyer to come along... It is a fickle market. Not everyone likes to drive around in a car that people gawp and point fingers at!! :D
The pros are that there is some history & pedigree to the cars...
The cons are that like with any ex-event cars, some have been abused!

If it's any consolation, I recently bought my G4 D3 with 72K on the clock from a dealer in Essex and paid just under £23,000 so these vehicles do hold their value...but if you find a buyer (like me) that really wants one they will pay the right money. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, which is why so many dealers have them on the forecourt for too long.
I was lucky to find this one when I was looking to find mine as all of the others that were about at the time from main dealers were anywhere between £27,000 and £32,000 which was considerably out of my budget.
I'm sure they will hold their value still, but it would seem that once the G4 bug bites you stay with the marque or keep it. The previous owner to my D3 G4 bought a RRS G4.

That was pretty much my take/angle on it all! There's less of a market for them but I guess those who want them will pay a bit of a premium to get a good one.
"My" car was only used in the first stage of the 2006 G4 Challenge in Thailand so not abused, thankfully!

Sounds like you got a good buy! My brother is after A D3 G4 but finding one for sensible money is difficult.
Should be getting "my" G4 RRS this afternoon - can't wait!

I bought my '08 D3 G4 last week with 62000 miles on the clock. I paid £21300 for it and think it was a good deal. The dealer claims he was offered £26k for it after I'd bought it. I'll take that with a pinch of salt but in my experience, once the right buyer comes along, I think the prices remain firm (ish!).
On a brighter note, I am loving the G4. my brother bought my d4 from me and I am waiting for a new D4 coming in September. The G4 really is impressive and at the moment is my daily driver. Got some plans for it and it is due to be the subject of a series of articles by LRMs Charlie Thorn. Could be interesting. I'm open to suggestions as to what additions or mods are popular?
Thanks,
Best,
Steve
