I'm interested in going - I won't have my newly reserved D3 G4 V8 til early April.
I assume I can become a paid up member of the G4OC then, and could attend this event. It doesn't say if 'non-orange' can attend. Is it a closed event? Could I turn up with my current hack - D2 V8 ES? Let me know. I've also pinged the camel trophy bods for an entry form just in case.

Well, I was the sole representative of the G4OC at this very wet and muddy event. Not sure what happened to DaveZX, but hope he's OK. Would have been nice to have seen
some
of the
G4
clan.
As an outsider, I was made very welcome, with 'orange' banter (expected it- so was no surprise and wasn't offensive) as I could not get in to the 'Somme' of the event field due to only having road tyres (the 19inch Goodyear Dura Tracs are on 6 week back order - but there are ordered!)
Had I had the traction (or had not been so wet and swampy) I would have taken part in some of the challenges.
It did give me the opportunity to test out the centre and rear locking diffs and some of the terrain programs -they worked well. Better tyres would have put me the the Camels traction league (or better) with ground clearance willing.
I met some interesting folks and had some fun in and out of the Camels laden 110s. There was an interesting and enlightening bushcraft course/class laid on as a side entertainment when Sandglow got too much.
At the Sunday morning Camel awards for various categories of bravery and team work from Saturdays challenges, I was awarded a plaque signed by Bob Ives (A Camel Trophy Competitor Winner) scribed on the back with 'speculative Camel Owner'.
Thanks to Tim, Bob, Ian, Big Red and Sally and others whos faces I remember but names not for an entertaining weekend.

Dear Andy
Great to see you at Bob's Bash, we are so glad you had a good time. We expect to see the plaque mounted on your vehicle ASAP. On Saturday evening Richard Mumford (ex Camel comms team and I think a D3Club member) brought his ex-LRE Disco 4 into the Somme and got about five car lengths before becoming another casualty, joining the heavy 110s and skinny tyred Discovery 1s. I'm sure the vehicle of choice would have been my CT Freelander which would have daintily skipped over the mud, but alas she was off the road.
Dave - hope you are feeling better, see you next time.
Thanks for the splash of orange
Cheers
Chris
