Re your split charge system, not very nice in my opinion, they have used an ignition controlled 120 amp relay (my part number 0-727-18) connected buy 35 amp wire to the main battery and 120 amp alternator (you could start a nice fire here if you wanted!) It may only become a problem if your second battery is nearly flat and your 120 amp alternator would want to push that sort of current up the small wire. Get some one to do the job properly with a 120 amp Moss Fet technology charge splitter that can handle the current.
I have had trouble with Optima red top batteries on my rally vehicles (yellow tops seem to last ok, but the red tops die in 12 months) I now replace them with Maxima batteries that last much better (not replaced one yet) and slightly cheeper!
