I have been addicted to Land Rovers for a long time but never owned one. I didnt want a second hand vehicle and I have decided to buy new.
My big question is......................... My vehicle will be a 110 XS SW, But I want to have it made into a replica G4 Defender 110.
I fully respect the passion you guys have for your authentic G4 vehicles, therefore would it be right and proper for me to use this site to get advice on a replica vehicle?
If not thenI fully understand. However, if you guys would like to offer some help then I would fully appriciate it.
So before I start asking my other questions, can I ask if you guys will allow me to join this site even though I do not have an authentic G4 vehicle?
Yours
James
Generally replica's are not a problem, nor limited editions that have then been dressed as per the genuine article. Main issue will be getting hold of all the kit as it is not cheap. If you join we have a technical officer who is getting pretty good at finding things though.
Is your car a Puma XS? If so, then you will need to see some of the picks of the 2009 vehicles to get this years kit? If not 110's do occasionally come up for sale if you don't mind waiting, or at least you can have a good look at ones in the club to see what you need.

i can speak from personal experience as i am currently in the process of converting a Disco 2 into a G4 replica.
firstly, i have had nothing but help, support and encouragement from members that i have spoken to both in person and on this forum - so welcome to the club. the green oval in whatever form it takes tends to bring people together!!!
as for building a G4 replica on a brand new vehicle, can you buy them in Tangiers Orange? if not it is a massive job spraying a brand new vehicle to a high standard - if you can find a willing body shop to do this!!!! :w00t: be aware they will charge you well for it, mine had 90 hours work booked to it but i know it actually took more, plus the cost of materials.
if you get over this hurdle the guys in the owners club will help you locate the bits that you need, but again, authentic parts command high prices.
Despite the cost, there is nothing more rewarding than driving an unusual vehicle that looks great and gives you a fabulous talking point when you go down the pub!!!:D
Good luck
Norm
