Well, it's still for sale! I had someone interested at the asking price but the sale of their car fell through :-(
I'm almost tempted to LPG it and keep it, but have read mixed reviews on whether the 4.4 V8 takes well to such a conversion, even with a flash lube kit installed.
So, not sure what to do! In the meantime, I've had the gearbox oil changed this week as I thought it deserved it after the Morocco trip and I prefer preventative maintenance over reactive!!
Anyway, back to the original post - still for sale, anyone interested let me know!
P.S. Did anyone spot it in LRO this month?

Hello Mike, been following your story for a few weeks. One of the pictures of your car climbing over the ridge is now my screensaver (hope you don't mind). Doesn't orange really suit these? I have been very tempted to make you an offer, though I really have enough cars!. What a great vehicle though. I have been looking at buying a RR as my next car, and came across the G4 Challenge vehicles by accident as I like rather more unusual editions.
I was inspired to enter your forum because I fully appreciate the desire to keep these vehicles totally original, but I have experience of lpg cars and would encourage you to consider it. I had a Jaguar XJR that was a dream but just too thirsty as it was doing about 18mpg and I was doing a high mileage. After an LPG conversion there was no noticeable change in power and as I had to keep records I can say I saved £17,000 when I sold it on with 180,000 on the clock. I could easily live with the equivalent cost of 35-ish to the gallon based on petrol cost. LPG in Europe is 20% or more cheaper too. Then followed a new subaru forester petrol that I bought with the intention of putting LPG on it. That gave me good service and was sold recently with 165,000 miles - a buyer came from Bosnia to collect it. I now have a diesel forester.
However, savings apart, I quite enjoyed the engineering aspects of LPG - the car remains dual fuel and starts on petrol for about a quarter of a mile, to heat the evaporator etc - and the range is double as the petrol tank stays in. There's something about the go anywhere on either fuel sort of attitude that I think G4 people might like. To my mind, it's just another addition to add to the whole raft of extras that G4's have, and a high-tech one at that. My cars were converted by Neal Mugglestone at www.jaguarfuelconversions.co.uk and the pipework looked superbly crafted and worked like a dream. He was so helpful, one of these rare mechanics who really knows what he is doing in detail.
It's a quandary, isn't it. Big powerful engine, thirsty with high petrol costs, and seemingly criticism over a conversion. I'd convert and enjoy. If I was honest I would probably say I enjoyed the LPG forester over the diesel even though both cost the same to run - the diesel does around 42 mpg. But that engine had the same revvy characteristics you V8 will have.
