Freelander problem

Group: Forum Member Posts: 11, Visits: 23	Hi, bit confused, when i put my foot down to get the turbo working im loosing power to the wheels engine revving like it wants to go but hasnt got the forward momentum saty overtake a car, no black smoke or anything like that, the clutch has been replaced 9 months ago. Maybe it could be the turbo or the hoses, anybody got any ideas. Cheers

Group: Forum Member Posts: 11, Visits: 23	I seriously hope it isnt a clutch problem. Thats expensive!!! Doesnt smell like the clutch though, ive been driving it this afternoon trying to get it to do it again but wont have it. Can anyone think of anything else?

Group: Forum Member Posts: 27, Visits: 4K	If you are driving a TD4 freelander and you are also suffering with poor acceleration ie feels like little or no power,I suggest you try the air flow/air mass meter.They are prone to failure ,Testing the fault is easy and if this turns out to be at fault will cost you a lot less than a new clutch. The TD4 is a great engine, and for uncharacteristic loss of power, rough running and unresponsiveness, people are right to point you towards split turbos, faulty MAF sensors (the give away is that when plugged into a testbook computer, a failed MAF gives no indication of a fault) etc. It's also worth checking the cam sensors in these cases. www.tuning-diesels.com is an odd looking website but full of useful tidbits about the TD4 (and the earlier L-series diesel) from "Roverron". Nevertheless, the "revving but no increase in speed" sounds clutchy, doesn't it? Group: Forum Member Posts: 11, Visits: 23	had a look at the turbo hoses and there all fine, no splits in them. so think its a clutch problem, just think its wierd how it works ok in 1st, 2nd but as soon as i put my foot down in 3rd it sounds like your really slipping the clutch out, and then binds. Ive never had this problem before, ive always had landrovers, and the last time it happened there was a bang and complete loss of drive. How hard is it to do a clutch on a freelander? only ever done a discovery. Thanks for all the input.
