I am plannning to visit Iceland for a G4 expedition in June / July
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with experience of offroad tracks and perhaps any of our Icelandic colleagues who maybe able to provide some directions on what routes etc are best to take or avoid!
Ill be taking my G4 D3 with me !
I would also welcome anyone who would like to join ... Ill be camping mostly and the aim is to do some cross country F tracks .... some biking ... gentle hikes, swimming in some of the hotpools and plenty of fotos!

I'm pleased to hear you'll be going to Iceland; a few of us were talking about doing a trip next year :D you can be our guinea pig :D If you get the chance would you please make notes of where you visited etc.
We visited our Icelandic friend and stayed for a 2 week holiday, we borrowed his car and a trailer tent, it's an amazing place, but make sure you have very deep pockets though, the cost of living is so expensive. :w00t: We would definately go back again and again and again!
Safaris are an Icelandic company who organise the type of tour you are looking to do, it may be worth taking a look at their website to get some ideas, below is a link to some of their maps, I hope this helps you and we'll chat more tomorrow.

Roll on Mongolia! Oh boll0cks, no Mongolia, might have to get a proper job...
Lovely place if you ever get the chance to go grab it with both hands. Keep an eye out for these Arctic Terns in the breeding season they get a bit aggresive if you get too close. 2005 G4 Defender

would be good if anyone fancies teaming up to do some of the interior tracks ... not sure what kind of terrain im expecting in terms of difficult / river depths etc
I did see alot of roads still closed so maybe still lots of melting snow
anyway ... just a note to ask if anyone is on the island who fancies some days exploring
We are camping btw .... so will be mobile and flexible on days / locations!
