Hello dear G4 owners club members
These two G4 vehicles have just been spotted in the town of Vimioso in northeast Portugal. Any idea who they belong to?
Regards from Portugal.

Hi Jose,
Indeed it was us stopped to replenish our food and also ice-cream. With the amount of kids we had on the trip a daily ice-cream stop became mandatory.
I will write up a trip report to share with the G4 club members with some pics and I am sure it will generate a lot of interest as we are often discussing trip opportunities. I have been in touch with John Pearson regarding a report, he thought that he was going to write one from his trip with you soon which would take precedence! Non-the-less we will send some pictures to LRO.
Overall I felt Portugal provided the excitement of remote travel but with the knowledge of a European safety net. There are so many tracks that the choice is bewildering, this also means it can be tailored to the 'hardness' of a trip to meet member requirements. Apart from the off-road travel aspect, it is a great country to visit for the historical sites and also the beauty of the countryside with some great places to camp. All at a very reasonable price compared with rest of the EU countries.
As a way of introduction, I would be happy for you to put a draft proposal forward to the club members and assess interest for hosting a trip to Portugal. My interest in Portugal came from the article John wrote when you hosted him last year and then we met up at Peterborough. Now that your business is up and running for hosting 4x4 tours, shout about it here!

Emon

Hi Emon,
First of all thank you for such a positive feedback about Portugal. I know it may sound suspicious but I do believe Portugal ticks all the boxes as a 1st class destination for adventure trips like the ones you normally do, with big advantages compared to other countries in Europe and northern Africa.
I don't know exactly where you've been to but I'm sure you could witness the diversity of landscapes and atmospheres along the route, the historical heritage and, last but not least, the excellence of our local cuisine.
As you rightly said, I'm about to take Mr. John Pearson on a 8 day tour around the center of Portugal, which will be full of "surprises", fantastic experiences and lots of off-road driving across the beautiful countryside.
This is exactly the sort of business I've started now. I organize bespoke adventure tours for those who really want to get away from it all and
experience some of the best things my country has to offer.
If you want to discover a surprising country that's just around the corner for you and have a fantastic time, think about coming to Portugal. I'm sure you will go back home wondering why you took so long to come here.
For now I invite you all to visit my new website at
www.dreamlandrover.com
and my facebook page called "Dream Land Rover".
If you have any additional question don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail or give me a call. I'll be more than happy to assist you in every way I can.
I'm very much looking forward to having a caravan of Orange Land Rovers crossing this lovely country of mine!!!
Cheers everyone
Jose

By the way,
Your visit created a bit wave of curiosity from local Land Rover enthusiasts, so you can imagine what it would be like if anybody saw you on a sort of mini G4 Challenge across Portugal...
Think about it !!!
Cheers
Jose
