Shock absorber woes!

Group: G4 Member Posts: 78, Visits: 3.7K	Seems that I have snapped the rear off side shock on my Defender. Not the end of the world I know but before I just go and get the LR OEM shock I'm thinking maybe I upgrade it slightly. Not to raise it/lower it or to change the look but to have a stronger/better set up. I have asked else where but value everyones opinion, so what are your thought? I'll look to change the rear shocks and springs both sides and in the new year, once the Christmas £££ is complete I'll do the fronts as a preventative measure. I'll also be looking at dislocation cones after the spring popping out on the axle twister last weekend Depending on cost it may all get done as a oner, but I have a service coming up soon. There's a Terrafirma place near me (Frogisland) but google suggests mixed reviews on quality for Terrafirma but great reviews for Old Man Emu. ***Edited to add The 110 is mainly used on road, but does do 5-10 off road/green laning days per year, and we intend to get a caravan this coming year. But I've heard they can make the ride a little harder. I changed mine last spring, even though it'd done less than 37k. Stayed with Genuine and glad I did. But each to his own. Phil. Group: G4 Member Posts: 75, Visits: 712	Hi Ryan I changed the rear shocks and spring on my old 110 last year ( not the G4). She was looking a little tired and "low in the water" when fully loaded. I had done 100,000 miles without replacing them! They were the orginals I believe and had been abused in terms of over loading several times. I fitted OEM parts for LRDirect and was pleased with the results. Given how long the previous ones had lasted ( and the cost) I stayed original. I will admit they were never exposed to any "extreme" off road conditions. regards Barry PS an straight forward DIY job and the time to fit some spring retainers!
